Poll: Should I get a 2DS?

I recently got some money thanks to graduations and tax refund, so I was wondering if a 2DS would be a good gaming buy. What do you guys think?

Also, if you could, suggest 5 games to go with it. I want to know that it has a good backlog first. DON'T include these games on your list:

Animal Crossing
Fire Emblem
Any Pokemon game

If you plan on getting a lot of games on it, go with the 3DS XL. It feels soooo fucking good in my hands, compared to the 3DS and the 2DS, which I have held. I don't use the 3D either, but the look, comfort, and better ease makes it worth the price. Also, get a bundle, you'll save money and get a cooler looking 3DS.

Just a question, but can your even streepass on the 2DS? How the fuck does that even work?

The 2DS certainly isn't bad, though I do prefer the look and feel of the 3DS XL. I'll also say that some games do make minor use of the 3D, such as a couple sections in Super Mario 3D Land. It's certainly possible without 3D, but it is harder due to the way the camera is oriented. Being able to turn 3D on in those occasional instances is nice, but I certainly don't use it much.

With that said, some games that might interest you:

1. Shin Megami Tensei IV (and there's a couple other SMT games on the system)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
4. New Super Mario Bros. 2
5. Super Mario 3D Land
6. Monster Hunter 3
7. Star Fox 64
8. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
9. Tales of the Abyss
10. Etrian Odyssey 4 (there's also a couple other Etrian Odyssey games on the system I believe)
11. Mario Kart 7

I also hear that the new Kirby and Mario Golf games have been getting good reviews. I know that's a lot more than five, but I figured a larger selection wouldn't hurt. Just know that some of those games are reasonably hard to come by.

You could probably get an original 3DS (new or used) for not much more if you shop around a bit. That's what I'd do personally as I really don't like the 2DS. I find it uncomfortable to use and the build quality is really cheap. The d-pad in particular is just atrocious.

If you feel the design is comfortable then by all means get a 2DS. The 3D is pretty much entirely a pointless gimmick anyway.
