Yes I play EVE. Yes I love EVE. Yes I can see why people consider it boring. And, yes I have seen Yahtzee's review. I disagree, but that's another story entirely.
Well I played the free trial and all I have to say is (and please excuse the yahtzee quote) bored, bored, bored, eyestrain.

But getting back to topic it's all a matter of personal taste. Play a demo if you can and if you like it then go for it.
(Completely off topic)

ooooh.... you have Zero too...

Most people playing it here is little boys who goes beserk if you tell them, Fuck you WoW sucks. Then they're like "No! It's the best game ever don't say it sucks!" Then they go cry in a corner.
Yes, like me for instance! No, wait, I'm a woman and not a particularly young one either. But then again, the only thing that's likely to make me go cry in a corner in this thread is your brutal disregard for the proper use of the English language. Way to bolster your point with an ostentatious show of brainpower there, dude.
Wut? I didn't say i hate WoW... What i meant was, the people here i know is little kids. And it's kinda funny seeing them go all psycho when someone tells them it sucks.
The majority of the Escapists routinely settle out at 15 to 17 years of age. The next largest demographic comes in at around 19 years old, depending on how one splits out the ages groups in the poll Of course, some of us are considerably older than that and a few of us are younger. Most of the people here isn't aren't little kids, and the ones that are younger than average are often considerably more well-spoken and better-mannered than trolls of whatever age who think it's kinda funny seeing someone go all psycho.

Other than that, make sure you try out every class, because you'll never know which one you'll like. I was certain that Hunter was my class, but after never getting one above 30, and trying a bunch of other classes, all of a sudden I figured out that I loved being a Shaman. Don't quit on the game simply because you're bored. Try out other things in the game to see what you like the most. Some people prefer classes where you're constantly mashing buttons, and some like more reserved classes. It's all preference. Having played off and on for 4 years, and not getting a single character to 80, I know what it's like to be bored. :D

Perseverance, and all that, right?
Yes, if you do sign up, try different races and classes. You are allowed to have up to ten characters on one server, so take advantage of that. Play multiple characters not only so you can find what you like, but so that you can break off and do something different every once in a while. I love my shadow priest, but it's good for me to take a break and play my hunter for a change of pace.
You are obviously blind.
And you are obviously a troll.

The kid is asking for help on Deciding. Instead of helping your bashing WoW players. Please either

A) Grow up a little bit and Contribute to the conversation in a peaceful neutral tone.
or
B) Leave the conversation! If you don't like WoW then why did you come in here to Flame it.

Yes, of course I am. I play WoW via their innovative braille technology. I've also recently installed the beta of a browse-by-smell add-on for Mozilla which easily allows me to identify your posts in the thread.

I have been thinking of joining WoW for quite some time now but can't make a dicision. The game looks really fun and I finally got a good enough cumputer to run the game (Only last week) but WoW is really pricey. I think that the game is probably worth it: In depth story, good graphics (for an MMO), cool invironments and overall good reveiws. But I want to know what other people think: Is it worth it, is it a good game and are the players (as a general rule) nice or complete D-bags. Please vote then leave individual information.

:) thanks!
Short answer... No!
Wait for Diablo III.
that series is lightyears ahead of Warcraft.

No. I'm quoting someone I heard, who said: "The day I stopped playing MMOs is when I realized that none of them are good."

I think the same thing. Only the end game is mildly interesting to play, and that gets boring rather quickly too. Leveling is the most boring game experience I've had in a long time. Also, I like to play games that are memorable, where there's a good story, memorable characters etc.

Also, all the quests, atleast currently are extremely repetitive and dull. It destroyed the Warcraft lore thoroughly, especially with Cataclysm.

I could only play it in a high-rate private server to get quickly to end game and then play that. I've done that, and while many of the quests are broken, I still get through with leveling faster.
Might I suggest Shin Megami Tensei online: Imagine?
It is as good as the single player RPG's, has the awesome story as well as the extreme depth in character creation. Shits all over WoW IMO.

If it's your thing go for it, I had WOW for a while, but I eventually drifted away from it (I just could not make the time commitment), plus I was on my own.

If you have the time and money go ahead, but it might be wise to see if there are any other mmo's that look as good but are cheaper.

Warcraft is pretty fun, but it will take a lot of your free time and a decent chunk of your money.

And don't even think about getting Eve Online without trying the free trial first. I played it and it honestly had to have been one of the most boring games I have ever played. Between that and Warcraft I would most definatly pick Warcraft.

But I suppose you might like it. Who knows?

Don't! You either end up finding it very boring and a waste of your money (like me) or you'll get severely addicted to it (like a friend of mine). It's just not worth it.

Then again, I simply really don't like MMORPG in general, so maybe you should just ignore my advice.

If these are your criteria, play Lord of the Rings Online. It really has a good story that runs through all your characters life, the graphics are great (even if animations are a bit better in WoW). All reviews I read were good overall too. And within the next years you will see Isengart, Helms Deep and Mount Doom, all the nice places you know from the books or films.
WoW is the right game if you have friends to play with or if you have a lot of time for raiding. There is no better raiding game than WoW. Everything else you can find better in another MMO.

The thing about WoW is that it just gets old. Yes, it's fun to explore the world and raid dungeons and such, but when the grind really sets in, eventually you realize that you're shelling out enough money to buy yourself four brand-new, awesome games a year. But instead of buying those, you're doing essentially the same thing over and over again so that you can get better lewt. Frankly, I'm not a fan of games where you have to work towards a goal that is essentially the ability to work longer towards another goal, with tiny bits of actual fun interspersed in the long slog to...what? A larger e-peen, I guess, seeing as nothing you EVER do affects the world in ANY way.
For me, the game was fun for the free month, then it just became kind of meh.

I would suggest a different MMO, try Guild Wars, its has no monthly subscription but is still a fantastic game.

Why bother? You're just gonna buy Star Wars: The Old Republic or Guild Wars 2 within a year anyway.

I think it was good when I played it.

It depends on the server, if you can find a social spot in a guild it gives you some stuff to do.

Also if your just starting use a Warlock/Paladin, very easy to play.

Personally Im not a big fan of WoW. I thought the storyline was Subpar, the PvP is unballanced, and the Quests were a lot of Kill X of this and hold this postion. Leveling up is a pain in the ass because nobody will do the dungeons with you. Guilds are just long friends lists. Above all, if you want to stand a shot in level 70 or 80 or whatever the max level is you have to be online for all the new stuff as it comes out. Above all the game is a lot of work for what it is. If you want a game play EVE, the graphics are better, the quests are much the same, and the economy is 100% player driven.

Play with friends, and do not...DO NOT join a high population server.

Besides the fact that they are too full already, and Dalaran will kill you. All the people in the old high population server's are elitists that require a 5K Gear Score for a simple ToC 10 man raid (you'll learn this lingo soon enough).

If you find a nice realm, a nice guild, and play with friends, it's a fun game.

Don't ask for our opinions. The only thing that matters here is your enjoyment, and no-one can decide what you will enjoy other than you. So just try it out and see for yourself.

I, for one, love it, but that shouldn't matter to you.

DO NOT TOUCH WORLD OF WARCRAFT IN IT'S CURRENT STATE! Wait until Cataclysm hits so when you level you're going to level in the new revamped Azeroth. At the moment leveling from 1 to 60 is a pain in the backside, and level from 60 to 80 is a bigger pain in the backside.
I agree on the Azeroth thingy, but 60 to 80 even worse? Really? If anything it's better than anything you get before. Especially Northrend is Blizzard's best WoW work yet in pretty much every aspect, especially leveling-wise. Story and gameplay is wonderfully interwoven, way better than before making leveling up a lot more enjoyable. And even from level 1-60, the Random Dungeon Finder tool makes leveling way better. Really, that thing is the best thing that happened to WoW since the moment it launched.
I don't know about you, but unless you are a human leveling through the starting areas is a pain.
And Draenei. Their starting areas are absolutely brilliant. Especially Bloodmyst Isle is a pearl.

But your whole point is moot if the OP wouldn't like sci-fi. Plus, EVE and WoW can barely be compared anyway. They're both MMO's, but that's where the similarities end. They truly are radically different, 2 extremes in the MMO world. Hence why I couldn't say that WoW is better than EVE or the other way around as they're so very different.

That's something I don't get. So the Warcraft universe continues on and suddenly it's destroyed? Since when is any game universe static? There isn't just history, there's stuff happening right now as well. Cataclysm is a good example of that, it's just the Warcraft universe moving further.
