I ask this because as i'm sure most of you have heard that From Software may stop maintaining the American servers for Demon's Souls sometime in March. For those of you that have played the game you know how hard it can be especially without the aid of other players and with Dark Souls (a.k.a Demon's Souls 2) coming out sometime this year most of the Demon's Souls player would probably be moving to it making it more difficult to find good help even if they do keep the servers running. My brother pointed out that if they do shut down the servers that I probably wouldn't be able to get any decent money from it. So should I keep it as a memento of its awesomeness or sell it for a few extra bucks so I might be able to buy one of the 20 other games coming out this year that I want?

If you already beat it and don't plan on playing through it again I'd sell it to get new games.

You're only losing a small chunk of the game if they take the servers down really. Sure, you won't get messages, the random ghosts walking by, or invasions, but you still get the main game and it's gameplay. Plus, once you've played the game through once, you don't need the messages anyway. Honestly it comes down to whether you plan on ever playing through the game again. If you don't, then sell it, otherwise keep it.

I have tried playing the game offline and I couldn't

But i'd also not be able to summon people to help me which for me would make some bosses extremely difficult to defeat unless I change my playing style.

Really, how come? I played quite a significant part of the game offline due to my internet being useless at the time. PSN kept getting disconnected so in the end I just left PSN off while I played. That meant there wasn't any messages around, meaning I had to be a bit more cautious, nothing undoable though. Never summoned anyone when I did play online, so I didn't miss that, and I didn't miss people invading me at all.

You still have the option of changing your play style though, what i'm trying to say not having online isn't the end of the world for the game. Hell, maybe you'll even get more enjoyment out of the game with a new playstyle?

So change your play style. Demon's souls is supposed to be about learning and adapting to the challenges you face, not getting other people to do your work for you. If you don't like that, then by all means, sell the game, but I know I'll be keeping my copy.

Those are some good points, I guess i'll wait and see how it goes.

And just gonna bring it up, but Atlus decided to keep the servers up until at least the end of 2011. Even then they'll still probably keep the servers up longer if there are enough players.

Well maybe was an error like the ones on xbox live that, you save online you will continue online or I don't know but thanks a lot man I was pretty disappointed because I love that game and haven't finished because the PS3 is on my hometown so I only play those exclusives when I'm on vacation. But now I know that Demon's souls is playable offline you make my day probably my year thanks for the heads up.

I've never played Demon's Souls so I can't help you with that, but you should be more careful with the wording of your poll. The topic says "should I sell the game", then the poll asks "should I keep the game".

That's bound to make some people accidentally vote against their own opinions.

No prob. I know when you load up the game when not connected to the PSN, it does ask you to log in. However, if you just click no, it'll then ask you whether you want to play offline, if you click yes it should be fine.

It's definitely possible to beat this game without using online, I did it myself. Actually it's more of a pain in the ass having online because fuckers constantly invade your game...annoying. I'll finally be able to play the game with a full health bar, not use that damn cling ring and not worry about getting backstabbed from other players.
