By christmas I will be able to go for my P's but so far I have only done 2 hours. Should I start driving everywhere and try to get to 50 hours in a month? If the majority say yes, I'll post my progress and we'll see how long I get.

Here in Malaysia (as an expat) I've had to drive for about 20 hours and I have my P's.
Ah the freedoms of the not-so-developed world <.<.

I believe a while back in certain countries all you had to do was drive fowards and backwards 6 feet to get a full license.

Dude get your P's, no buts about it. Driving is one of the biggest senses of freedom ever. Until that is the petrol light blinks on for the first time and you realise you are so broke you cant afford to have a moth fly outta your wallet.

Also, don't get you license suspended, it sucks so bad...

Eh, I got my L's back in '06, but I never bothered to learn to drive. There's really no point in me learning since I don't have the time and I'm a public transport geek anyway. Plus, if I drive in real life anything like I do in video games, I'll probably end up crashing into the Moon.

I don't know what your P's are, but I would say you should only try to start driving if you intend on ever getting laid. Otherwise, feel free to hoof it everywhere.

Go for it if you want, but be aware that if your family has more cars than licensed drivers, then you become the sole driver (as far as insurance is concerned) of the 'unowned' vehicle, and get to enjoy the wonderful thousands of dollars per year of insurance.

That's the only reason I don't have my full license after 3 years of having my learners.

Also, ignore the foolish virgins; you can get sex no matter what, if you're not an idiot. (My record is 4 in 24 hours - anyone with a license want to challenge?)

It's useful to get your [driver's license equivalent] so that you can legally drive, but I wouldn't actually recommend driving of your own accord afterwards; it's alternatingly boring as hell // way to stressful. Driving is useful, but it's way better to mooch off of friends who have cars than it is to get one yourself.

Yep, go for it. It's an important part of getting your freedom and growing up. Just please listen to those who are trying to help you learn. And for goodness sake, if it starts to rain, turn on the damn windshield wipers (almost had my Driver's Ed teacher flunk me because I was driving with them off when it was raining. What? I could see fine!)

Car=sex?
Well, as you say, Car =/= sex?
Should he really be having sex at 15?

Still, your point is valid; if its going to be more trouble than its worth, don't get the permit. Of course, if its not an issue, its always good to be able to drive yourself when people around you are doing stupid things.

S.A. is easy compared to NSW, damn you and your 50 hours.
Its definitely worth getting your P's, driving makes everything so much easier. Doing 50 hours on your L's shouldn't be that bad.

1st: Do it!

2nd: Gotta love the Channel Islands, you can take your tractor license at 15 (meaning you take your theory just after your 15th birthday), then take your test as soon as your provisional license pitches up in the post on your 17th birthday.

I was in too minds about getting my license, but I'm really glad I did. I got a really good summer job (by chance) the required knowledge of how to drive (manual) so I made a lot of money by taking the time to learn.

It also saves me a lot of time, I couldn't have imagined how much easier it makes getting around (public transport in melbourne is a long running joke).

I'd say definately get it.
