on another form they ask about glitches in games and a thought came to me , before a game is released they test it and the high scores are posted , when you buy a game that has online leader boards like ea's mercs2 there are very high scores that seemed suspicions ,how can a just released game that hasn't been played by the masses have such high scores , i know that some play really hard and long to get to the top but for most it's just for fun, they should reset the boards and the best be on a separate honour role but give everyone an equal chance at number one

That would be my thread you're referring to, right?

Anyway, I get what you're saying (at least I THINK I do), but really, it would just be a vicious cycle. Just because the people who've cheated to get to the top are kicked out of that position doesn't mean they won't just re-cheat and get right back up there...

No, if a person glitches thats unfair, but so is undoing all the hard work people to to reach the top.

It depends. Such as with Diablo 2 there was always a group of level 99s that sat at the top and did nothing. They eventually reset the ladder(leaving everyone there characters but simply kicking the old characters off the new ladder). Of course they waited a few years to do this and gave notice. Still the issue still stands that a game is daunting when a few super-high guys pollute the whole leader board and never ever give anyone else a ghost of a chance to catch them. The boards need to be reset occasionally to give everyone a chance.
