To be honest I've never seen much of a problem with smoking. Both of my parents have been regular smokers for years and in their case some of the facts that stand are:
*Neither have any major health problems
*They only smoke outside or in designated areas
*They've got duties and kids to look after, a smoke now and then helps take the edge off (because some haven't discovered the joys of stress-relieving videogames)
*Over the years only a few have been uptight enough to voice their opinion on smoking right to their face if so much as a trace of smoke meanders away from the empty or designated area to their
precious lungs
*Unless you're constantly being beset by heavy smokers in an enclosed environment second-hand smoke isn't going to kill you, most smokers are careful to do it away from others or in the designated areas
So no, I don't think it should be made illegal. Warned aginst, certainly (my folks have often stressed the point to never take it up with me and my brother), banned outright, of course not.

yes and anyone who does smoke deserves a bullet in the head!
But who will protect us from the metal gears?
