I've been trying to decide between which game I should get, silent hill 2 or Bioshock.
They both seem like great games, beautiful gameplay, brilliant dialogue, and lovable characters.
I still can't decide between them and whenever I asked my friends they say shit about them without even knowing the games. So I ask my fellow escapists. Which game should I get? If you want to you can recommend a different game from the selection I made in the poll.

I'd say bioshock because of all the cool weapons, the powers and the great storyline. Although I also like it because i tried to get my sister to play it once and she was too scared to play the moment we went into the lighthouse. The look on her face when she first saw a Splicer was fantastic!

I'd say try to get them both as they are both good for different reasons. I personaly enjoy Silent hill more as its story is by far the best in any kind genre i've seen so far! But bioshock has a good story as well as the whole genetic powers which make the game pretty awsome.

Never played any of the Silent Hill games, but there is no doubt in my mind that you should get Bioshock.

Seriously, it's a great game.

Lovable characters? Brilliant gameplay? You're really going into these games with the wrong attitude. Both the games are great experiences but (Silent Hill 2 in particular) is completely mortifying. They're worth a play if you want something with more thematic depth than nearly all other videogames, but not for the gameplay and "lovable" characters. Both are worth playing, but only Silent Hill 2 is essential out of them imo.

I can't believe it, I was thinking the exact same thing.

If you're into horror, Silent Hill 2 is by far better than Bioshock. Bioshock wasn't even scary, a little creepy, but not scary.

Silent Hill 2 though... I have a hard time playing that game at night... and the daytime.

Save for both. But really, if you have to pick... Silent Hill 2. It is, in my oppinion, the best game ever made. It is the most deep story I have ever encountered, while at the same time, it is really "small" compared to the grandiose plots that almost every other game has today. There's no saving the world. There's no saving noone, except, for maybe yourself. In more than one way. Play it, and for God's sake don't read upon the plot or anything beforehand. It should be as pure an experience as possible, and I swear, you will experience what I think is the best game ever made.

Silent hill 2 is one of my absolute top games. Bioshock is no lightweight either. I'd seriously recommend them to anyone, though they really have very little in common. It's a strange couple of games to go head to head against.

You know you can get bioshock for like, 20$ on steam if you have a PC that can run it, and silent hill 2 is like, infinity years old.

Why not both you can pick up Bioshock for like 20 quid and silent hill you would probably find a decent used copy for 5 or something.

SIlent Hill 2 is an absolute must have. I own both of the games but if I had to choose between Silent Hill 2 or Bioshock i'd definetly go for the first.

I've never played Silent Hill 2, but if my friend is to be believed it's scary as hell. Bioshock is scary too, but not pants-wettingly so, but it also has an amazing storyline and beautifully crafted setting. I guess it all comes down to whether you want a survival horror or a FPS with some RPG elements.

Get Silent Hill 2 first. It is still one of the greatest games of all time. The story is way better than BioShock's IMO.

No contest, Silent Hill 2, for Horror.
Shooter? Bioshock.

And I woulden't call Silent Hill's characters "Lovable" especially Angela...

I feel so sorry for her >_> (A really excellent backstory for her, make sure to pay attention when fighting the "Abstract Daddy" boss.)
