so i don't know if any one else feels this way about it, so i thought i'd ask. when i first bought my ps2 in 2004 i bought and played through silent hill one and two, i did one run through on both and both games haev sat on the shelf ever since, the reason those games are scary as fuck, i'd play the sequels, but i like sleeping at night, not turning my head ever time i hear a noise and being able to enter dark spaces without fear. needless to say they kinda had an afect on me. so i was just crurios if any one else had an experiance similar to that. p.s. i know its just game...but..Fuck is it scary.

Yes yes, we all know Silent Hill is scary. But WHICH Silent Hill to OP is scariest? To me, three scared me shitless.
I've never played them. I'm trying to find cheap, second hand copies of the first 2 games and a cheap second hand Playstation 2 so I can play them though.

When I first played the original, it scared me shitless. The second one to a lesser extend, it's more disturbing and philosophical than full-blown scary. Now, I find neither particularly scary-- not even the sequels. It's not that the set pieces aren't there (at least up to "The Room"), but I just don't think games of any kind scare me these days.

Silent Hill 2 is pretty damn scary. Haven't finished it yet because Final Fantasy and God of War keep getting in the way, but it is incredibly unsettling.
Definitely high on the scare meter, but Fatal Frame is the only series with games in it I've actually had to turn off from time to time because I just needed a breather so I'd reserve the top choice for that.
