I needed a picture to see what size zero meant, and now I can say, ewww.
If a girl looks healthy she is attractive. Healthy can mean a range of things, but size zero on a girl without a very small frame is gross.

Male or female? - Female
Are you trying to achieve size zero? - No.
Why/Why not? - I like having hips, boobs and a bum.
What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero? - I think they are genuinely stupid.
What's your view of others who have achieved size zero? - I think they are also genuinely stupid and need to get a big mac down their neck.
And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? - No. nononono. the london fashion week proved that it's not. They had UK size 10/12 models modelling some of the clothes and jaws literally hit the floor.

Male or female? male

.

Are you trying to achieve size zero? no

.

Why/Why not? Because I can already fit in it. Yes I am a dude, and yes I can fit into 0 girl skinny jeans pretty easy, it's really not an amazing feat. Though they are kinda tightish. I normally just wear 1's.

.

What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero?I support people being their natural body size. If they are naturally skinny(like me) then I encourage them to be naturally skinny. If they are bigger, then they should be bigger. However, i do not support people being overweight or obese, nobody is naturally fat like that.

.

What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?Ummm.. I disapprove of the word achieve. It's not(well, it shouldn't be) a goal, the goal should be to be healthy.

.

And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? If the person is naturally like that, and they are an attractive person, then yes.

So, having to do research on size zero and its representation in the media, I thought it might be quite interesting to see how the public views it. So, members of the Escapist, you are now the public... All of it! Admittedly, up-scaling the public out of the community of a game website may be a bad idea but I don't see the harm in a little investigation.

You aren't doing represention research for English Language A levels by any chance?

OT: No, I don't find size zero attractive. The notion that men like excessive/obsessive dieting and skinniness is ridiculous, we generally like 'modest' curves if anything. I generally find that women seem to grow in real physical attractiveness in proportion to how much I like them. Looks really only influence lasting impressions very slightly even if they do decide first impressions to a degree.
Trying to achieve size zero is a waste of time and potentially dangerous. I dont really bother with watching my weight... recenlty ive gotten slightly chubbier which i find disconcerting but also kinda preferable to how stick-thin i was not so long ago. Ive always eaten a lot but its only recently started affecting me more. I feel healthier and there's no way im slimming for some idiotic goal.

No.
I'd never be able to achieve size zero, even if I wanted to. XD
I think that it's unhleathy.
It looks unhealthy, and I'm pretty certain that there are health risks involved.
I don't find size zero attractive at all for several reasons. One, my current gf is a size 2, and she's fine. I'm a big guy. I'm 6'0" and 220 pounds of linebacker-built, weight lifting manliness. If I were to hug a girl that's size zero, she might snap in half. XD

Unless the girl is naturally that thin, then it's kinda gross. I mean bones are on the inside for a reason, right?

1). Male.
2). Nope.
3). I'm just not. I workout a lot, run a lot but don't do it to achieve a smaller size. I do it for strength, power, stamina etc.

4). If other people want to do it, even if they risk their health then so be it. It's their choice.
5). I view people who have achieved size 0 as...for a lack of a better word...grotesque. I also think that risking your health for achieving such a look is very silly.
6). No. I would much rather have a girlfriend with 'love handles' than a size 0 one.

Male or female? - Female
Are you trying to achieve size zero? - No

Why/Why not? - I don't like tight pants or having to stay on a diet.

What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero? - I think their stupid, usually with an eating disorder and a beauty complex.

What's your view of others who have achieved size zero? - I congratulate them for not having to buy little girl's cloths anymore. Everyone I know who is a size 0 hates it and wants to gain weight, none starved themselves to it. Or in the case of my cousin, she was 13 and wanted to buy juniors cloths, when she got older she had to buy bigger cloths she didn't try to stay at a 0.

And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? - Depends if their at a healthy weight. People who starve themselves to get into a 0, no. People who are just small, yes.

1. Male
2. No
3. I'm skinny enough, and the day I meet a girl who likes ultra-skinny guys is the day I enter the Twilight Zone...and never leave =p
4. To each their own. Just remember to eat healthy and all that jazz.
5. As long as they feel good about themselves and they aren't putting themselves in danger, I don't have a problem with it.
6. There are some size zero girls who I think are absolutely gorgeous; there are some I don't find the least bit attractive. Labeling an entire group of people as attractive/unattractive based on arbitrary measures of clothing size is stupid. There's more to beauty than that.

What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?
-EAT SOMETHING
And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive?

OK, It's sexism for the sake of honesty time.

Ask a group of men what they like most about women, and generally, if there's no women in earshot, and they've had a tongue-loosening beer or two, they'll name three things:

The ass, and both tits.

Size zero essentially means you don't have any of the main 3 features guys like.

Sure, if you're dieting 'for yourself', go ahead, but don't expect the guys to be queueing up when you've gone from a healthy size 16 to 'Skeletor in a sleeping bag'.

Jo Brand, a rather large female stand up over here in the UK once said something very un PC - " We could fix the fashion industry in a moment by just getting rid of all the gay fashion designers, and get some more women in, then perhaps clothes will stop being made to fit the teenage boy body shape and fit a real woman. "

She's very obviously not saying she's the right size, she's pretty damn big, but she is saying, if you've slimmed down to the point where there's no sign of femininity in your silhouette, you've probably taken it too far and could be mistaken for a boy in a dark nightclub. (At least that's my take on it.)

Ok, it's dodgy to criticise a minority for anything these days, but why do we let men dictate what women wear? High heels are ridiculous for a start, even more so when you consider most men want to be taller than their partner, and most women want a taller man.

As for the set of questions:

Male or female? Male
Are you trying to achieve size zero? Yes, by eating so much that I die early and get cremated, that's the only way I'll ever hit that weight.
Why/Why not? Because I rate pleasure above being attractive to necrophiles.
What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero? Foolish and easily led by the media, I've never seen a size 10 woman and thought, 'oi fatty, put down the donuts', but then a size 16ish is ideal imo anyway, and the average woman in the UK.
What's your view of others who have achieved size zero? Well done, now go have some cake.
And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? It can be attractive in the way art can be, someone can be pretty and size zero, but not sexy and size zero, imo.

To be less abrasize, when I hug someone and I hear crunchy noises and the grinding of bone, it's just not pleasant. It's like squeezing a clothes airer to my chest.

Because it's way too thin! I would like to be slimmer - at the moment I'm a UK size 10/12, but I would prefer to be a size 8 (size zero in the UK is about a size 4).
If people want to be size zero, that's their choice, not mine.
If they can actually get to that size, I'm pretty amazed at how determined they are to be honest, I definitely know I wouldn't be able to even if I wanted to.
No, I think slim but toned looks better to me personally.

I wear a size 31.
I wear mens sizes...
Go for it, if you can still manage to stay healthy while doing it and still be proportional built for their height.

I'm female, and am physically incapable of a size zero. Even 10 years after my death, after all the flesh has fallen off, my bones will still be to tall for a size zero. :) So, I don't try for it. I instead try for a size that looks good with my BMI. Then again, I'm a tomboy lesbian (soft dyke, I like to call it), so size zero isn't something I try for because I have better things to do.

That said, I've dated women that are itty bitty, with a metabolism that won't let them pass a certain weight. I'm sure there are some guys here that are like that too. They weren't size zero, but damn close. I often worried about hurting them, they were so dainty. But that's them. They were born into that body type, and I can't fault them for that. I instead look at the individual persona, and find I'm more attracted to that.

On the other hand, I'm not attracted to size 30 muffin tops. Blech! You can argue that if genes keep some womens metabolisms hot, that there has to be those with cold metabolisms too. Sure. But a person with an alarming amount of pound on their body says more about how they care for themselves than their voice does, even if genes do play a part in it.

If I were to watch Top Idol, or whatever model shows are out there, and I had to choose an attractive model, I'd probably instinctively go for a woman with a little more meat on her bones. But if given an opportunity to get to know these people, and a size zero stood out- without a doubt, I'd date her.

Absolutely not. And if I was, I'd have to drop about 250 pounds.
See above. And also, because I prefer to be more manly (large and bearded)
As long as it's not an eating disorder or unhealthy obsession, achieve away.
My girlfriend was a size 0 for awhile. She's now a 1. (Of course she's anorexic :/ )
It depends on the person. My girlfriend didn't look like the pictures in this thread. She appeared relatively healthy and filled her body out.

Male or female? Male
Are you trying to achieve size zero? Actually I'm trying to gain weight right now
Why/Why not? Working out
What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero? They probably have some self image problems
What's your view of others who have achieved size zero? Eat a hamburger
And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? Depends on the girl's height. Size zero is fine if you're 5'0, but if you're 5'9 you're going to look emaciated and like you desperately need food. In general, I prefer a girl whom I won't be afraid of snapping in half if I hug them too hard.
