I've been considering buying Skyrim after seeing all the positive feedback from various sources and i'm just curious to ask. Which would be better, PC or Xbox360? (I didn't include PS3 as i don't own one, though it's added to the poll)

Which one is more enjoyable to play and what are the benefits of each one?

Which one do you personally prefer?

EDIT: (Also a minor question that i've been wanting to ask, how does one delete a post?)

If I had the hardware to run Skyrim, I'd totally play it on PC. I use a Mac so it's not really an option. PS3 all the way.

At the moment it won't make much difference, it's going to be some time before the mods start rolling in on PC anyway.

Go for what you prefer playing on.

If you can a run a Bethesda game on your PC you should always get it for PC over console every single time unless it is a Post Apocalyptic FPS game but serious though the mods alone are worth buying a controller for your PC if using a controller is that big of a deal.

If you have a system that can run it, PC is pretty much the ideal platform.

Why? The construction set. Bethsoft games tend to produce massive modding communities and sometimes, -sometimes-, they produce some fun content.

Modding still isn't doable on consoles because they are very adamant that their users pay for any downloadable content.

Only if you plan on being a long term fan of the game though. Being a new engine with a new construction set, it might take months for anything really worth wile to show up. If you just want a 40 hour experience a console is just as good as a PC.

I enjoy 360 more. Not being a hater and saying PC sucks, because it doesn't. I've just for whatever reason not been able to handle the keyboard set up. Maybe its because I cant type worth crap, i don't know. I've just grown up with consoles, so that's what I prefer. I do enjoy not having to install, set up options, make sure DRM is working, make sure my graphics card is good enough, etc. I don't have the time or money to build or buy a gaming rig that would be able to run Skyrim at its best. From what I've seen, for the most part the graphics on PC are better, but 360 isn't too shabby. If you have a good PC, go with that. if not, go 360.

If you can run the PC version, buy it. While PC snobs annoy me to no end, it is true in this case since the TES mod community is bound to make the game 10x better down the road.

the one thing that i'm worried about is the controls in comparison as Skyrim might suffer on the PC if it was made more suitable for Console controls (The developers mentioned this issue recently).

The PC version is surprisingly well optimized.

Even a "lowly" HD 5770 is enough to play with High Details @1080p with 50-55fps.
Tomshardware posted an article with lots of benchmarks.

It was clearly not developed as a PC game, but it's still much better on PC. Graphics and mods.

Wait a few days and we'll find out if it runs in Wine.

And for all the people who say "Yeah, go PC, you really kinda have to," I beg to differ. If you enjoy a game on the console, just go ahead and get it.
A little while down the line, then you can pick up the PC GOTY edition for cheap, when all the best mods have been made and all the bugs have been worked out and computer hardware is cheaper.

Yes, this is me encouraging people to buy a game twice.
But honestly, its a great bang for you buck.

My laptop isn't really up to the task (it's barely capable of running the game on the absolute minimum settings), so it's going to be Xbox 360 for me.

Chances are good I'll get it for the PC a few years later if I buy a better computer and there's some kickass mods for the game.

I'm getting it for the PC when I do (in about a month). Hopefully I'll have a new laptop by then... I really can't handle this one at the moment, sudden performance drops, mysterious allocation of RAM...

My PC can't run it, so I'm getting it on PS3. If yours can run it, get it for PC because it has superior graphics and can be modded on PC.

Xbox because I hate PC gaming. Everything from the controls to the massive amount of hackers just ruins it for me. Also my shitty laptop will probably crash just posting this.

As much as I was a purist and used to play a heavily modded Morrowind in a dark corner of my house only lit by my monitor screen, I play Skyrim on X-box 360. I just played 4hrs straight with no graphics hassles and no crash to desktops, I almost died in a fight and realised that I hadn't been saving everything 10min just in case.
