It's like taking the spear out of Oblivion. At first, you get complaints, but they'll slowly dwindle into nothing. After a while, people will say that Oblivion is better, but Skyrim is still good, and, at the end of the day, they'll be playing Skyrim.
As for me, although it kind of sucks not having the option to mix and match different armors, I'll soon forget that this was even there. I won't be seeing myself much in the game anyway since I'll have it on first-person view, and if it allows for more things on the screen well, that's just better.
