This!

I played Fallout 3 and NV till my thumbs were sore. But I ditched Oblivion after maybe 2 hours.
No idea why I didnt like Oblivion at that point. Could be the combat.

Still, for some reason the Persuasion and Intimidate checks are a bit weird. And the responses they give you are a bit off too.

It's got a slight hint of it, I guess. And there's one song that plays on it sometimes that reminds me of the song that plays when you're inside a house in Oblivion. But then, Skyrim also has a song directly from Morrowind, so yeah.

Edit: Speaking of which, I'll take this opportunity to mention how much I love Skyrim's soundtrack. Yup.

Stupid things like bandits in daedra armor are gone from skyrim. I didn't like Oblivion at all but I enjoy Skyrim thanks to that.
They still level with you, though. Which is retarded.
It's better than getting horribly bored because everything is as easy as it was at level 1...
That's not how it works.

Morrowind didn't have level scaling, everything (most anyway) was preset to certain level. There were dungeons where you had no business being until level 30. And this system was best out of these three games.

Oblivion is worst by far, Skyrim is bit better.
Erm that still means that there will be level one creatures in certain areas. I'd rather have a little challenge in my game. Is all im saying.

Right, fair enough.

Well I on the other hand like to get the feeling that I am actually progressing. I didn't get that in Oblivion. Actually felt like I got weaker when I levelled. Which is why I hated that game.

On the topic of level scaling, I'm in two minds about it. It's nice to have a constant challenge present throughout the levelling, however it can also be bloody irritating to have just levelled up, got some kickass new abilities etc etc only to still get your ass kicked by the same fucking snow bears.

OT: I didn't play much Oblivion, but from what I did see Skyrim is way, way better. Plus Dragons.

Having bandits tougher than dragons isn't better than anything.
funny I can 3 shot a bandit. A dragon takes a lot longer and I'm on master and level 49...

It's feels like Oblivion and Morrowind were just test runs and they have gotten the gameplay 100% right this time.

They have listened to criticisms and modders.
OO i like this. Pretty much sums up my feelings on it. Skyrim sits in a a sweet spot between Oblivion and Morrowind.

I still feel like there aren't enough voice actors. I know that they supposedly used 70+ actors, but so many of those are used for story characters that you only here from once. There are so many more nords than anything else, there really needed to be more Nord voice actors. 80% of Nords either sound like Grunt from ME2, or 'that swedish guy.'

Problems with Oblivion that Skyrim doesn't have:

[li]All cities look the same.[/li]
[li]Enemy levels scaling badly.[/li]
[li]Being unable to fight because you get knocked back every couple of seconds.[/li]
[li]Stupid NPC chatter (Coherent conversations!)[/li]
[li]No-one sounds like they're doing bad Arnold Schwarzenegger impressions.[/li]
[li]Rubber faces.[/li]

Problems with Oblivion that Skyrim still has:

[li]Horrible texture tiling.[/li]
[li]Retarded stealth AI.[/li]
[li]Every single merchant in the world knows that you stole that carrot and simply won't buy it from you. You monster.[/li]
[li]Jumping up irregularly-shaped objects results in a weird sort of floaty-jittery motion that makes you not actually gain any height.[/li]
[li]Stupid NPC chatter ("I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee").[/li]
[li]UI made for consoles.[/li]

...so basically, it's Oblivion with a few things fixed.

70+? More like 3. Gruff Voice guy (Belethor/Bard College Guy), old guy (Tolfdir, anyone over 50), Schwedisch guy (Whiterun wizard) are particularly conspicuous.

It's weird though; there are aspects of Skyrim I could nitpick and some that outright annoy the shit out of me (look guys, can I climb that fucking mountain or not?), but the sum of the whole is so much more than its parts. I started out just looking to get the main quest done, instead I'm 60 hours down and not looking to finish any time soon. Suppose I should be grateful- if the combat were truly satisfying and the character movement smooth as silk, I'd probably never leave.

Well, it's like Oblivion, but with less "STOP RIGHT THERE YOU CRIMINAL SCUM!"
and more "YOU HAVE COMMITTED CRIMES AGAINST SKYRIM AND HER PEOPLE!".
And more dragons.

Feels a lot like Oblivion with a facelift.

Pretty much all of your non-leveling problems or quirks are still present. Combat is slightly improved but remains essentially the same. If you didn't care for Oblivion, Skyrim won't change your mind.

I hated Oblivion. And still do. Just... UGH.
However, I love the absolute shit out of Skyrim.
So I guess that's an inkling that it plays quite differently.
It feels closer to Fallout 3 in terms of gameplay, but I still think it's very different to either.

Please stop including useless options in these polls. "Hey look a poll"

It ruins the integrity of the results and dilutes votes for the real choices. Another example people do is: "Is America Evil?"

This manipulates the results and makes it look like a huge majority say yes.
Not really we can see what people put quite clearly. I put that in because lots of people (including myself) are attracted to polls and flock to them. That option is for people who have nothing to contribute and would otherwise leave or put their vote into something they know nothing about.

So how does it compare to Daggerfall? I didn't like either Morrowind or Oblivion very much, so how does Skyrim compare to Daggerfall?

I have a question about Skyrim. I have been on the fence about buying it since it came out and I am wondering how does it play? Does it feel like the same kind of game as Oblivion? You don't have to tell me it is amazing, trust me I hear that from everyone.
I didnt play oblivion so I cant say yes or no to that question. What I can say is that it is a great game and feels similar but not to close to Morrowind in the amount of freedom you have (though not as crippling as Morrowinds amount of freedom can get).

I have a hard time comparing it to other games since it gets away from the idea of a class. Its just that if you use the skills you enjoy you will level those skills up making your class seem more organic, if that makes any sense.

The exploration style is similar to fallout 3. You can go anywhere you want. See a mountain and want to get to the top of it? You can. Want to get to those ruins you saw a dragon perched on? You can. Its not like fallout new vegas that had some invisible walls, so far as I can tell there's none of that nonsense in Skyrim

-Guards are not telepathic savants that can see through walls and instantly teleport to wherever it was you stole something. (People can still see you and call the guards rather quickly though)
Also, if you kill someone in the wilderness and someone sees you, you get a bounty. However, if you kill all witnesses, the bounty goes away (I know this from slaughtering the thalmor).
I find Skyrim to be a significant improvement over oblivion in the gameplay department.
The lack of class-based builds eliminates the issue of intentional manipulation of your level.
Enemies scale, but not so much faster than you that you feel stronger at level 1 than level 20 (also see above comment). In fact, I am level 39 right now on my main character, and I feel like those levels have actually paid off (Firestorm is amazing when you cast it for practically nothing).
The game is still buggy. In fact, I have had more bugs in skyrim than I did any other elder scrolls game. This is, in part, due to the fact that I've been pretty lucky with bugs in bethesda games until now (My only fallout 3 issue was that the game did not want to close properly all the time).
Melee feels much more rewarding in skyrim than other elder scrolls titles. If you attack an enemy at low health, or would deal a killing blow, it will actually show a special animation. For example, if you play as an assassin-type character and kill someone by sneaking up on them (if what my friend told me is correct), you will actually grab them and slit their throat. In my case, if you kill someone with a greatsword, you will shove your sword in their gut and throw them to the side.
Dual wielding spells and weapons makes things interesting. A good, well-rounded character who focused on sword-and-board could bounce back and forth between shields and wards to better protect them from their respective opponent.
My biggest gripe is that it feels like a lot of questlines are too short. 4 quests in and hey! I'm archmage of the college (not really 4, but it sure felt like it). In oblivion, you had to spend a good while working towards getting to archmage. After that, you can do a lot of small, side missions for that group, but a lot of those smaller ones are "go here, get this" or "go there, kill that." All the main stuff has good story and background, but it stops before it goes to smaller side missions.

Overall, I would say its somewhere between oblivion and fallout, but much more oriented towards fallout.

It's like Oblivion, but a lot more refined. Everything just flows smoothly, so in that aspect it's nothing like Oblivion
