I like neither. Diablo III is piss easy, you can play it with one hand and run naked to the first boss on the highest difficulty after 5 mins of playing with 2 players and own it by headbanging your nose at random keys.

I thought Diablo 3 beta was restricted to normal mode. Meethinks you are exaggerating a smidge.

Diablo 3.

No contest at all.

Torchlight might be mod-friendly and not have the stupid always online stuff, but its just Diablo 2 with cartoony graphics. In fact, its probably worse than Diablo 2 with cartoony graphics.

I got tired of Torchlight 1 pretty fast, and I'd rather be playing Diablo 2 than that.

And after trying the D3 open beta...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Torchlight could have been 1$ and I'd still pick Diablo 3.

Torchlight 2 because I'm a cheap bastard, liked torchlight 1, never played Diablo and don't really like blizzard. I'd probably play Path of Exile because it looks fun and is free to play as well.

Getting both, and Grim Dawn as well as Guild Wars 2. Life is short; not sure why I should limit myself to only having fun with one and only one product.

Not fond of clickfest dungeon crawlers... but I'd be more likely to get Torchlight 2. Another thing my roommate is into, and from what I've seen of Torchlight, it's a massive improvement on the Diablo formula.

If Torchlight 2 is anythin like Torchlight 1 it'll be crap in comparison to Diablo 3 because Torchlight 1 was a borin snoozefest compared to D2. The only reason it was remotely playable were the mods which, as with all mods, were mostly miss with some hit.

Seriously. The first Torchlight was a horribly bland version of Diablo 2 with all the actual fun bits takin out. Why can anyone expect anythin different when Torchlight 2 comes out?

Edit - Because I feel the need to actually answer the question. Diablo 3 in a heartbeat because after playin Torchlight to see what all the fuss was about I was left wantin to the point that I fished out my 10 year old D2 and LoD discs to actually play a fun dungeon crawler.

This exact same thread was made about a month ago... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.372579-Poll-Diablo-III-or-Torchlight-II?page=1]

And I say the same now as I did then, Diablo 3 because Torchlight 2 seems to have a feature list written with the nostalgia-blinded in mind.

Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile... sheesh. Cluster-fuck of click-fests.

I don't like that Diablo 3 doesn't trust the player with character attributes or skill-points.

I found Torchlight 1 boring (after 30 hours).

Probably Path of Exile (immense skill-tree) over Grim Dawn (from maker of Titan Quest), but I sense that Blizzard will nail the addictive elements of loot-finding in Diablo 3 and trump them all.

I imagine a lot of people will answer Torchlight 2. But Blizzard hasn't steered me wrong yet, so Diablo 3 for me.

Torchlight 2.

I like Blizzard don't get me wrong here and while I am sure there much more capable of keeping the login servers up unlike say Ubisoft... Its still something I will not personally support, Just as I don't support Ubisoft.

If I am out and about away from my desktop on a long trip I bring my laptop, The issue being that while on the move say on a Train or on a Plane I would like the option to boot up my game with some headphones in, Always Online games don't give me that option.

At least with steam I can get the laptop ready for it in offline mode before going.

Diablo 3, Torchlight was awesome but Diablo has always kept me occupied.

I expect D3 to keep me occupied, and Blizz has not let me down....ever

Diablo III
In spite of getting more and more disappointed with every news update since 2009, I still itch to play this game. Have been wanting a D3 game ever since my D2 days back in 2002. I might pick up Torchlight II eventually, but I'm not that intrested in it. Thought the first one was dull.

I'll be playing both. The poll is stupid - there are people that can afford both and there are people that aren't stupid fanboys/fangirls. There is absolutely NO reason for me not to play them both.

I've already bought three copies of Diablo 3 and four copies of Torchlight 2.

since? since when? since what? since who?

The question we may never know the answer too!

Ya really spent $260 on 4 Copies of T2 ($20 each) and 3 Copies of D3 ($60 each)

Dapper Kouen detects a exaggeration

Yes, I did actually. I'm the one buying games for my friends. Three copies of Diablo 3 and the four-pack of Torchlight 2 on Steam.

My friends are either low on cash or pirates which means I'll have to get them the games if I want to play with them. I'm fine with that, it's a small price to pay for all the hours of fun we get out of it.

The 4 Pack I can roll with but you must really love you're friends to give out 3 copies of Diablo 3.

But on the other topic, I don't find the pole stupid in that its asking for a preference rather than anything else. Many will end up with both I would imagine, but some may be looking forward to one over the other more. Maybe they have a reason for only wanting one, such as myself.

And with that I bid you good day sir

Considering TL1 was a cheap Diablo clone to begin with, I don't see why I should play a cut-down version instead of the great original.

Since I've also played the D3 beta and I know for a fact that I will greatly enjoy the game, there is NO reason whatsoever to even consider TL2 over D3 at this point.
