The 4 Pack I can roll with but you must really love you're friends to give out 3 copies of Diablo 3.

But on the other topic, I don't find the pole stupid in that its asking for a preference rather than anything else. Many will end up with both I would be but some may be looking forward to one over the other, more maybe they have a reason for only wanting one, such as myself.

And with that I bid you good day sir
I wasn't fast enough with my edit on my last post; Those that I play with are either low on cash or pirates, so if I want to play with them I'll have to get them the games, which I am fine with as it's a small price to pay for all the hours of fun I (we) get out of it.

Besides, it's not that much money in Sweden. 150 bucks for three copies of Diablo 3 isn't that big of a deal. Even unemployed people get about 1,800$ per month, so 150$ for Diablo 3 isn't that much after all.

I somehow missed Diablo II when I was growing up and my first randomised ARPG experience was Torchlight, so I'm naturally more excited for Torchlight II that I am Diablo.

However I will eventually get both, but I think D3 will be a fair while away whereas I'll preorder TL2. I can't justify spending full price for games when I have such an extensive backlog already, but £15 for Torchlight II I can handle.

The always onlineness of Diablo 3 is off putting, certainly when I love hardcore modes and my net can cut out very occasionally, but I have a fair few friends who are going to be playing it so I'd likely be online most of the time anyway.

With sorrow: I didn't enjoy Torchlight 1 at all, but loved previous Diablo. The always online thing has put me off completely though, so probably neither.

d3, torchlight way too childish looking even though diablo 3 is sadly on the same wrong path.

This exact same thread was made about a month ago... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.372579-Poll-Diablo-III-or-Torchlight-II?page=1]

And I say the same now as I did then, Diablo 3 because Torchlight 2 seems to have a feature list written with the nostalgia-blinded in mind.
Not to sound like an ass (as I've had my threads copied before) but it has been 2 1/2 weeks, and that thread seems to be a bit burried, but sorry anyways.

Thanks for the input though :)

I'm not saying one is better than the other, one should be better than the other, or one will be better. I'm simply asking for personal preferences based on aspects of the game and I want people to post these aspects and mechanics and see which of these games appeals to my own tastes.

If you can afford both great, and even better, but I just want to see the appeal of both games before I make a decision. In the end I may buy both if they both appeal to me but considering I have a laptop for gaming, I'm going to stick with just one for a while.

Considering TL1 was a cheap Diablo clone to begin with, I don't see why I should play a cut-down version instead of the great original.

Since I've also played the D3 beta and I know for a fact that I will greatly enjoy the game, there is NO reason whatsoever to even consider TL2 over D3 at this point.
That really isn't the kind of thing to say on a forum that hates Diablo III...

You need to go along with the popular opinion, Torchlight 2 is waaayyy better because it's cheaper, and isn't made by a big evil company that does DRM!

OT: Everyone to their own, I guess.

TL2 hands down. An engine that I know will run on both my PC and laptop. A graphical style that doesn't deviate from the series norm. Actually being able to play offline if I want to. Oh, and the great price tag with no concerns about RMT caused problems.
D3's graphical style doesn't deviate from the "series norm" either.
Um, yeah it does. It's not really bad and still fits the universe... but it does deviate from the norm.
There is nothing wrong with deviating from the norm. I would much rather be able to see some of the awesome enviroments the team spent years crafting, than to be restricted to only seeing what the circle of light around my character shows.

Well I already order Diablo 3 so there goes my vote. Well I admit I haven't look into Touchlight 2 that much but that's because I'm too lazy to look it up.

Diablo 3, Torchlight was awesome but Diablo has always kept me occupied.

I expect D3 to keep me occupied, and Blizz has not let me down since
since? since when? since what? since who?

The question we may never know the answer too!
I see the mistake in my post, and it will be changed accordingly.

Thank you Kouen!

Both. I have no preference on which I like more, and I'll be getting them both. To me it'll depend on which one my friends are currently playing. This genre to me is all about playing with others so my playtime will be distributed based on that.

Neither. Might play through the d3 story once on a friends account if it's decent but I doubt it.

Diablo 3 - Mainly because I recall playing Diablo 2 with fondness and i'm excited to see what happens next, though i'll probably pick up Torchlight 2 when it comes out, just to see how good it is.
