I got it today, played the first few levels of the campaign, and I think it's fantastic. Every firefight is interesting and different, and it has the perfect balance of nostalgia and innovation.

Quite honestly, the best Halo I've ever played, and I've been a long supporter of the series.

Firefight mode is some of the most fun I've ever had with a video game. I'm glad they improved between ODST and Reach. I haven't gotten very far in the campaign yet, but its shaping up to be a glorious story. And the multiplayer is just as refined as ever.

I don't have any complaints for it actually. I love this game.

Love it, multiplayer's great and forge is amazing. I haven't had a chance to go through campaign yet (damn you college work!) but that looks nice as well.

I'm on level 7 of 9 on Heroic. Just jumped online after about 8 hours straight of Reach to check my syllabus to see if A can skip my classes tomorrow. I can.

The singleplayer is fairly similar to most Halo games, although slightly better.

The weapons feel very skill intensive. The recoil "nerfs" guns like the sniper and battle rifle (now DMR) but in all reality if you have the skill to control the accuracy it's just as good if not better. They always say the pistol is back, but this time it actually is. Other new weapons like the redone bruteshot and stickygernade launcher feel new and powerful. Even the brute spiker and needler feel powerful and worth useing.

The vehicles are better. When you try the new Gauss Warthog you might have an orgasm, and the new covanent Warthog is basically a mini Wraith. Yeah it shoots giant mortars, rapidly.

Everything feels more crisp, and honestly just adding sprint revitalizes the game immensely.

I have yet to try firefight or multiplayer, but I am very excited to try it.

Haven't actually played it myself, but one of my friends who's a big Halo fan said, and I quote, "I was a tad disappointed. Seems there's something missing".

Don't know if this has something to do with him still regularly playing the first one, but it still suggests that 10/10 wasn't fully deserved.
Like I said though, I wouldn't know, I haven't played it myself.

I got two copies of it in the post yesterday, gave one to my best friend, and we played right through to the end. Apart from the large number of betrayals (Mostly by him, surprisingly), I found it was quite good. Oh, and apart from completely butchering the original story of Reach, it was quite good.
Still would have preferred it more like the book (Not following the same people, but the invasion and battles going the same way >.> ).

I thought it was Okay, I played it tonight. I'd have to say my favorite Halo is still Halo 2.

Spoilers aside, I have yet to try it. My friend is going to buy it in Japan and LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

When I first played it, I was slightly disappointed. Then I played a few games with a friend and I suddenly loved it! Can't wait to play it later. Damn you Sixth Form!

The campaign is ok but the narrative at times isn't to engaging. Like ODST, I just couldn't connect with the characters that well, as they weren't to interesting. Also, I feel though this is probably just me, Bungie likes to put you in a few ill-equipped situations at times, which can lead to some frustration at higher difficulties. (Terrible weapons for the tasks you must preform).

The multiplayer I'm loving so far, other than the level "Hemorrhage", which is essentially Blood Gulch though two times bigger. Yes, it's that big and yes, there's barely any cover other than rolling hills and a couple rocks. If you don't have a DMR or Sniper, prepare to have a whole lotta fun...

I didn't like it but I only care about single player so I'm not the intended audience...

I've played only a bit at a friends. And once again, it's a pleasing shooter, quite polished, a cut above the rest.
An 80-85 mark is what I'd give it. (By the current rating standards, but if rating standards actually were what they should be, it's be a 6. Above Average).

It exceeded my expectations by a longshot. I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I am pleasntly surprised and very, very happy I decided to get it. It's a great game, better than Halo 3 for sure.

You honestly searched for similar threads? SERIOUSLY?

It's...pretty good so far. Just finished like the 5th mission. I hope it goes longer, cos if it's as long as say, 3, then I'm gonna flip!
Apparently it goes for about 12 hours, so you can drop concerns about the campaign being too short.

So far, I have found reach to be extreamely fun. I haven't had a chance to have a good long go of it, but so far it's great. Best halo game ever.

Pretty much how I feel. It's still fun, but nothing to get all excited about. Level design and shield system are starting to show their age, even with the addition of the new (I think it's new) health system. I also don't know why they even bother doing a single-player story at this point. It's not terribly written, but again, like StarCraft 2, it's nothing notable. Which is a shame, since you'd think someone would have an interest at this point in doing something new and exciting with the ol' space marine formula.

Personally, I will always love Halo 1 (Combat Evolved, whatever) the most. It was one of the first FPSs I bought for the PC and it was just so different from Medal of Honor and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I still remember how thrilled I was at all the cool, bright colors and floating hologram textures. And it ran beautifully too.

It's probably mostly nostalgia for me at this point. Remembering a simpler time, a simpler me.

Blood Gulch is back! Yay!

I'm really enjoying it so far - the only issue I have is that the story seems a little ill-defined at times, as if they're saying "you know Reach falls, work the rest out yourself"
Also that my younger brother is 1) at school, and 2) insists I wait for him before playing through the campaign. This has led to me playing some of the multiplayer before I finish the campaign - usually a big no for me. But hey, it's fun! And I like the revamped firefight, despite not having been a huge fan in ODST. This might have something to do with me accidentally getting a killionaire about 10 seconds into my first game, thanks to the hammer of dawn target locater and a conveniently placed phantom.

I'm not trying to hate but I fell for Bungie's ploy and again invested money into the Halo franchise. I used to be a HUGE Halo fan right up until 3. I like stories to my game and the ending to 3 completely ruined it for me. I felt betrayed. However I decided to give Halo another chance with ODST. Again, I felt cheated with the very half-assed story. Somehow I thought I would give Halo one more shot, one more hurrah for old times sake...and again I'm disappointed. It's much better than ODST but the story still isn't that great. Maybe it's because Halo is way played out since Combat Evolved or maybe the writers are lazy.

I know Halo is now a multiplayer game but a game CANNOT be carried on multiplayer features alone or the quality of games will continue to slip. A game does NOT deserve a perfect score if it does NOT deliver in EVERY area of the game. To me it didn't deliver and I can think of a few other games that DID but still did not recieve a perfect score. Again I'm not trying to hate I'm just saying that it seems people are starting to settle for mediocrity.

Got the game midnight, had it beat by 6:30 that morning. The campaign was incredibly thrilling and definitely tops the other games in the series by a longshot, and this is coming from a guy who's loved every Halo. The set pieces are really well done, and you always feel as if you're a part of something bigger that's going on as opposed to being the main thing, like in the previous games. Even after beating it, I'm still looking forward to going through it again. It's just damn good. Then there's Firefight, and then there's Matchmaking. I wasn't disappointed in the least bit.
