I regulate my sleep on week days to 6 hours. That is all I need for maximum concentration in the working days... I don't have a limit on weekends, and will usually stay up until about 3-4 and then get up about 10... so strangly still getting 6 hours... :/ And I have only just realised that as I typed!

0100 is my bed time on a work night, as I get up at 0700! :p

I always understood that what you really NEED is 6 hours. anything between 6 and 8 is fine. Longer then that your just getting used to sleeping longer then your really need. people claiming they need 9 hours or more have just grown accustumed to it. If you force yourself to wake up after 6 or 7 hours each night you will eventually feel just as chirpy as you would sleeping 10.

I flip-flop from 8 hour sleep schedules to 3-4 hour. Not consciously, just sometimes I can't sleep very long.
And I usually feel like crap all day though.

Though if my 3-4 hour sleep stint goes on for about two weeks or so I usually sleep for about 13-14 hours and reset back to 8 hours again somehow.

Me too. 8 hours during the night, 2 hours during the day.
This has become a cycle for me and I am more mentally and physically stable, so i wills tick to this cycle.
Whenever i see magazine articles about successful people being short sleepers, having power breakfasts and breakfast meetings, jogging from 4 in the morning, I think, "Nup. Not me".
I tried it many many time, then realised it was not realistic.
