I've seen every one of his episodes on the Escapist so far, and I still don't get if hes trying to be funny or serious. And the fact that he has his head completely stuck up his ass. In conclusion no, because it seems like hes just there to talk about whatever he wants to talk about and not in an amusing way like Moviebob.

I think his humor is often misplaced, and seems ignorant in the midst of his 'oh so serious' arguments, that he is right, and he is the perfect being.

I understand his humor and what he is trying to do with it, but he is not charismatic enough to pull it off. Imagine some of his jokes presented by Yahtzee (he would never do that), they would be so much better.

Also he seems narrow-minded on some matters which is a serious drawback since it contradicts his own 'perfect being' jokes (that still aren't funny).

Besides if he doesn't get the humor of the bad-ass Duke Nukem franchise, or more that of the character himself 'DUKE NUMEM !' he is not worthy making assumptions. And he seems to think that Duke Nukem was created to be some sort of role model for coolness, but he thinks it's stupid and immature because Duke likes blowjobs and punching aliens in the nuts. . Well, maybe Jim just isn't that manly himself, because I would say those were two of the most awesome and manly things in the world !

I enjoy it for the same reasons I enjoy Yahtzee's stuff. It's blunt and honest. Now you may not always agree with him, or necessarily find him funny, but it's an honest opinion from someone who works in the games journalism industry, without any bullshit or corruption. So yeah, I guess I do like his show.

I think the real problem with Jimquisition is that it lacks a clearly refined personality and purpose. The first episode set us up for something different compared to the episodes that followed.

At first it seemed like a different take on the "angry video game nerd" idea, which I think I could go for, since it was much more contemporate. Then it deflated to something... still undefined.

When he has a relevant point that comes from his experience within the industry. He's great. So far his escapist vids haven't shown this.
I love how he talks about people not playing the games (or watching a movie) properly. "If I played a game improperly it's not my fault, it's your fault for not communicating properly how the game is meant to be played"

I love this because his videos have the same problem. That most people don't get his humor and he insults those people who don't get it. Clap Clap Jim, you have become the thing u just paid out.
Watch the video and then apply it to his current escapist ones. Halrious!

Jim: The humor in your current videos are weird and we don't get it and according to the above video that would be entirely your own fault so don't say that people who don't get your humor are idiots. Thank you.

Im thinking its more to do with the escapist probably asking him to fill a niche, and him adapting (not very well) to fill it. Because he did used to be good. The only thing that's changed is the place of the uploads. And such a request wouldn't suprise me (it's not even an unethical thing lol).
Doesn't change the fact that he's not very good at the moment.

They are two great things. But their also very shallow 2D things. And in this era of deep involving characters i don't think duke can stand toe to toe with them. When marcus fenix has more depth than you, it's time to do some thinking.
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I would never compare Duke Nukem as a character to that of Marcus Fenix, but there should be no need. That would be like comparing Super Mario to Bruce Wayne, and say that Uper Mario is a shallow and very unrealistic character that should never have existed.

Duke Nukem is extremely shallow, but he is funny as hell, and that is why people play the game.

In this day and age we have the technology and experience to make immersive videogames and characters, but that does not mean that every game should have that. Minecraft is the perfect example of an awesome game that is neither character nor story driven.

And Duke nukem is yet another example of this..
It's just two different genres of games, and then you play whatever you feel like and choose your game from what mood you are in: realistic immersive characters, or fun and shallow humorous characters.

Not everything on the escapist has to be about furthering the medium and developing the industry and why being a game designer is the hardest, most emotionally challenging occupation there is. Some stuff can just be there for entertainment.

Why is there a new poll over jim every day ?

And yes, i like him, he's 10X better then Lisas stupid top five.
The only reason most people don't like him is that they are not capable of understanding his humor and he is no chick.

Sex sells, thats all.

Just another also-ran wanna-be internet personality with some opinions to blurt out and little style, presentation or presence. After the first episode, I was hardly impressed, seemed sub-youtube in both effort put into it and final quality. After the second, I'd gladly do without having to look at his pseudo-smug image with the stereotypically cool goblet or whatever he's supposed to be drinking out of.

Space on the escapist could be better spent surely.

Well, when I see any videos, he might make a somewhat valid point, but it's one I could get off just about any semi-informed gamer; his delivery is poor; his persona is completely unlikeable, but not funny enough to make up for it.

And yes, I watched the "You're playing it wrong" video, which was recommended as his best. Still unimpressed. The point is, again, largely obvious, and stuff like that's brought up in a much more eloquent, yet still funnier way, over on Rock Paper Shotgun.

So no, Jim gets no more chances from me.

well i'll pull a movie bob on this

in short: I like it, not for everyone, and the comedy isn't the haha funny style.

in long format: The jimquisition is a show that is trying to be funny by making fun of the vanity of most gamers. The idea that we all have that our game ideas are awesome, and that we know how to fix the latest titles. Now, i'm not saying his opinions are not serious in the fact that he really thinks that would improve a game. However the sarcastic jokes are there to remind us that these are still just the cynical opinions of a satirical host. His style is an internet troll version of what jon stewart does four nights a week. Granted low budget and much in need of polishing

I don't like his show, but do we really need daily threads about this?
Yeah im starting to get tired of this too. I wish there was some forum rule against basically copy and pasting other peoples threads.

Responding to the UOT(un-original topic, get it?) Im interested in the show but only the times when the gameplay clips are showing. Whenever the camera is on him my enjoyment hits the floor. Its like his whole demeanor changes and now its time for him to cease making interesting points and instead just become mean towards the viewer. I know its all a character but it is a poorly executed one that seems to turn of more people than it does amuse. Its really sad too because I do watch his show every week but i almost want to skip through those unbearable portions

I like the show and I'm getting pretty tired of all this whining about it.

If you don't like it don't watch it - nuff said.

Still not sure.
No issues with him, no remarkable praise for him.

I get his ironic thing and it's amusing but there is only so much of it that comes across as funny before it's just old. His opinions can be interesting as well, there is always certain disagreeable portions but no one agrees 100% to everything, that doesn't make them less interesting to watch.

His only real problem is being held next to The Big Picture, Zero Punctuation and anything LRR does.
Those are some real high bars to jump and he's just been walking under them.

The only new thought i have to add is that if people keep watching he'll probably stick around no matter how many polls/threads there are demonstrating the community's displeasure. So my point is this: If you are serious when you say you don't like jimquisition, don't watch it. at all. If enough people do this, the view counts will hit the toilet and the show will be replaced with something else.

TL;DR I don't like jimquisition, I don't watch it. You don't like Jimquisition? don't watch it. Everyone does this, jimquisition goes away.

The day comedy needs a tutorial is the day we set aside personality, raze our art and culture, pool all global resources into a single quasi-cult-dictatorship and live as a non-sentient slave race.

His joke isn't exactly hard to follow either.
It's also funny because him calling everyone that didn't get it an idiot was probably an extension of that joke, I can't imagine it was serious.
And finally he didn't claim you need to like his humor, the developers wanted a better score.

There is nothing similar in these circumstances.
