Free stuff is nice and all but to be honest, I could not care less. Pretty much the sole redeeming feature of holidays of any kind is that a lot of them give you a day off to do bugger all instead of what ever you are supposed to do normally.

Oh, here are some Christmas songs

I like it, if only because of the fact that I get time off of school in December.

Honestly, the festivities aren't really my thing, and the rampant consumerism leaves a bad taste in my mouth. However, it's not really a big enough deal for me to complain. I happen to love the winter itself, though. I think snow is really pretty and romantic, and I'm a sucker for romantic thoughts.

Not a fan at all of Halloween so as far as I'm concerned after that is over its the Holiday season. Can't say growing up was bad as I was an only child and so got a TON of gifts and a TON of money. Now not so much, but still get some things. The family aspect and time off is great, plus unique foods and lots of cool decorations. If there happens to be snow then that will be nice as well.

I get that people not may like this time of year for a multitude of reasons, but hey, tons of people were in my face around Halloween.I had to endure the insufferable marathons of bad horror movies and everyone wanting me to go to partyies and get a costume and all that other stuff. Now I'll be festive to them, fair is fair hehe.

It's not Christmas yet for me. Won't start until it's about the 10th of December, and even then, it's not Christmas until I choose to put Slade's Merry Xmas Everyone on. That song is Christmas defined for me.

I like the time of year, but I don't like it being too forward. Calm down Christmas, I've been seeing your stuff up since Halloween.

Not a fan, any time where I'm expected to be constantly happy for more then, say, three consecutive minutes is not really my thing. I'm also not a fan of all the bustle, the shopping or the freaking Christmas music. I really dislike the music...

I love Christmas. It's my chance to meet family and friends from back home, there's snow, there's sitting inside drinking hot coffee and sipping red wine at night and presents. It's also one of the few times of the year when I can allow myself to relax and not think about all the things I should do. Now I love winter, I love snow, I love freezing weather and strong winds so I might be biased at an event set during this 6 month period.

I love Christmas, the time of year we get free stuff no?

Ok, on a more serious note I love it (at least this year) because it means I'm going home and can spend time with friends and family. Catch up with things that I've missed whilst I've been at Uni. It's the time of year where my family stops squabbling and shuts the hell up and just has a nice time.

Plus my Mum cooks a lot of food and we're normally eating the same god damn buffet (we have a buffet on boxing day) for pretty much a week.

Work retail then you will start to despise Christmas. Shops start selling Christmas things around the end of September nowadays, before Halloween, before Bonfire Night, before Thanksgiving. It's ridiculous.

To me I like the idea of Christmas, but I do not think anything Christmas related should be around prior to December. It takes away from the atmosphere when it has been around for months because it reduces it to background noise. I barely even notice Christmas things any more because they are just a part of the scenery.

I was just gonna say it was great when you're a kid, but now that I buy presents for most people in my family it's not something I look forward to any more. It's always difficult finding that perfect gift, and I'm left with hardly money in the end.

The only part of Christmas I look forward to is our traditional gigantic seafood platters for the whole family. Love ripping open prawns, bugs, crayfish, etc.

Meh. I mean like the atmosphere, with the snow, the Christmas specials, the music and the lights and all that. But overall, it's just been "meh". Maybe I just need to start putting up decorations more. I think it hurts how it hasn't snowed the past few Christmas' here when it usually should, that's usually what makes it for me.

Also no one in my family has any money.

thank you Americans for having Halloween and the fact it somehow got established here in Germany, this pushed the beginning of Christmas from late September to mid November, thank you

I don't have friends, I rarely talk to my family so there is no worry about buying gifts.
I do 90% of my shopping online, just go to costo for groceries, so the whole consumerism/overload of Christmas stuff doesn't get to me. So the holidays/Christmas is pretty much just the time of year it's cold...really nothing more.

Based on this sentiment can I assume that you are below the age of about 20? Once you're an adult Christmas is a net loss. You'll get maybe some socks and aftershave, and have to buy everyone presents. I've spent about £200 in various Christmas presents this year.

Despite this I still love Christmas. I love the decorations and the songs and the turkey dinner.

Obviously the only answer to this can be:

Really, it's my favorite time of the year, the only time when both friends and family are home from studies and jobs, there's snow for skiing, gifts, fantastic food, and more. Not much for the religious part of it, but Santa is awesome. I love it!

Might be a loss, but I still love giving gifts, almost as much as getting them.

I fuckin' love Christmas.
I'm not even Religious or make a big deal out of it, it's just a good time. Something about wrapping up in the cold, seeing people make their plans, hell, even websites changing their layouts to be more christmas-y. Great fun.

Christmas is what you make it. If you act like a miserable sod around Christmas, you'll have a miserable Christmas. I have two young nieces come to visit who both still believe in Santa, so that magic is still here. If it wasn't, I'd meet up with my friends, make our own Christmas meal, and drink until we're all red-faced and happy.

Honestly, I sometimes get the impression that people are determined to give themselves a miserable time.

I love Christmass. There's just something in the air that makes everything fuzzy and cozy. And I also just really like the winter.

But at the same time I'm fucking glad when it's all over on January 1st. New Year's eve is always me being physically nauseated due to all the previous Holiday business.

I freaking love Christmas, but even I have to admit that a radio station playing non-stop Christmas songs in NOVEMBER is a little ridiculous. Ham, pudding, eggnog, family, gifts, I love it. But I can see why many people wouldn't.
