I honestly don't know enough about them but from what I have heard I agree with their goals but not they way they go about them. It just seems cowardly to me for them to hide behind a veil. What do you guys think and why?

EDIT: I agree with their more recent actions, their stuff from 4chan and the stories ive heard about facebook are just disturbing

I don't stand on them, they seem like they'd make very unstable footing. (also, you're poll is missing)

They don't hit without provocation so I'm not really a target.
Beyond that; I don't care.

It's difficult for me to form a solid opinion on Anonymous because it's an amorphous entity. One minute you'll see them leading a grass-roots movement against corporations in the interest of protecting average, every day citizens, the next minute you'll see them demanding a 5th grade girl strip off her clothes on webcam, terrorizing her by posting her personal information all over the Internet when she refuses. It's almost literally the best things about the Internet and the worst things about the Internet together under one umbrella term.

I stand on their neck, it hurts more.

It's people only being ballsy because they believe they're safe. Which isn't ballsy at all. Sure, I can agree with some of what they do but it's only because they're so 'anonymous' that they bother at all.

Ok so apparently the poll didn't show haha clearly I'm still new. Any way the options were as follows:

I agree with their goals and methods
I disagree with their goals and methods
I agree with their goals not their methods
I dont know enough to judge

I can respect them for some of the things they do, but as of yet I can't say I fully support them. Why? They supposedly stand for freedom of speech and show this by trying to prevent people they disagree with from expressing themselves (refer to Gene Simmons). To me that's a massive contradiction.

It almost seems like they shifted emphasis from pro-piracy to internet vigilantes at the point were the Wikileaks case was brought to public attention.

anonymous has a good idea. instead of political power they are using genuine brains and creativity to get their message across. I think we will see more organizations like this as computers become even more ingrained into society.

The anonymous saga has kept me entertained recently.

And when they stand up for those who either lack the ability to stand up for themselves or fear the repurcussions of doing so, I believe they are doing some genuine good in the world.

As for their other activities, I don't know much about them, they are by definition hard to define.

So you could say, I approve of their actions and motives when they are doing good.

They do things that make places cry out for joy, as they attack corporations and whatnot. I've noticed they pop up in the news room of the escapist a lot to celebrate these things too. But it ignores the childporn, blackmailing people to strip or humiliating them by sending out personal details. Also they aren't that much different from the westboro baptist church in regards to upsetting families of recently deceased. It's just that they harass their facebook pages or send them things instead of going to their funerals, such as the incident with the girl who commited suicide by jumping infront of a train.

So I disagree with stuff they do. I wouldn't really say it's a they, there's no set morals or anything and there's probably large percentages of anonymous that are against what other parts of anonymous do. But, you can't deny the bad and just accept whatever fun that happens - overall it's bad.

As I said before, I don't really know too much about them but it seems like ever since they received national attention they have matured a little more, granted I don't follow 4chan or sites like that so the only thing I've heard about them from their is absolutely disgusting.

I used to be against them. Not because I disagree with them but because that there's no way for this to end happily for them.

Now I root for them. They exposed the corruption in Wisconsin for collective bargining for state employees. If that happens it sets a precedent in other states which means I'll be in the poor house eventually because Illinois does not want to keep paying my Dad's retirement salary.

i'd be one of them if i could hack wortha damn...

They are heros in some aspects but they're heros like batman. anti-heros. People with good ideas and morals but who go about them in bad ways. They're fun to watch though.
