For me it's gotta be Trevor. I'm at a point in real life where there's a bunch of BS going on right now, and I find his outburstive angry refreshing. Plus he cracks jokes, and has a deeper personality than you'd think. His sarcasm about the drywall brick had me laughing hard enough to accidentally hit a post and fail the mission the first time through.

Franklin is cool, and might be related to CJ. But Micheal is such a downer. He's boring and grumpy. He whines too much too.

So who do you like?

EDIT: I just got to a scene with Trevor that reminded me of Malkavian dialogue, where
he finally meets Floyd's girl and has that total breakdown thing.
So basically I like him even more now.

I don't own the game myself but my room mate does and the, maybe 2 hours, I've been watching him play it I have to go with Chop! Such an awesome thing :D
I don't even know the names of the characters but one very annoying one is the TowTruck chick, Tony or Tina or something.

Can I just cheat and say Ryder or CJ? Because as of now (just got it) I have no attachment to anyone.

Trevor seems crazy though so thats potentially good I guess. We'll see as soon as I get further than 20 minutes in.

Trevor and franklin have this sort of twisted morality thing going on.

trevor trys to convince floyd that the maryweather heist is a good thing he then goes off on a tangent about warcrimes and shitting on the poor. During the torture scene he lets the guy live and then goes on to say how torture is useless for getting info but he just finds it fun. Theres a few scenes where trevor shows that one of his best qualities is that he is very loyal

theres a few instances where franklin has a weird twisted morality too. When working with beverly he takes the moral high ground then decides to help him anyway and when lester is saying how he blew jay norris' head off was a good thing. Franklin then says "i love to see a guys head blown off as much as the next psychopath but dont ever justify it as the right thing"

Micheal doesnt even have a twisted morality. He has no morality

he sold his freinds out (trevor and brad) he faked his own death and paid of the FBI. He downright hates his family (especially jimmy) and he is only going back into crime because he is bored. He hides behind a facade of wealth in the hills but deep down hes just like trevor only trevor has the decency to be open about it

Edit: im going to say nigel thornberry and his wife, the only people psychotic enough to make trevor take a step back

Secconded on Trevor.

They actually managed to make a character that is frightening rather than merely violent and/or amoral, without venturing too far into downright inhuman territory. Although his aggression is too often taken to cartoonish levels which blunts his effectiveness.

Honestly, I think he's good enough to deserve a better game.

Franklin. He's much more laid back than the other two characters, and sort of plays the "only sane man" of the three.
Micheal is a close second. I love his sarcasm, his story is nice as well.
Trevor...Trevor kinda rubs me the wrong way. There were times I didn't like him, and times where he was pure awesome. The instance where he outright tells Franklin's aunt and her friends to "Shut the fuck up" was fantastic.

I like Franklin best as a character, but Trevor is the most fun, particularly during fights. That said, Michael definitely has his moments; his reintroduction after the prologue was an awesome example of the retired badass at work.

I think Trevor's great, but he starts to lose some consistency the longer he's a playable character.

He's presented as a total loose cannon who can turn on a dime, but then there's those moments where the game turns him into a reasonable character in the face of people you're supposed to hate. Like the border patrol guys. We're obviously supposed to hate these guys, so the game has Trevor be all "you guys are insane", eventhough he's done way worse.

Honestly, I think Michael works the best in this setting. One side of him wants to be live an ordinary life with his family and the other wants to say "fuck it all" and get back in the criminal circuit. That moment when Michael calls Trevor out and accuses him of being a hipster was also a briliant character moment between the two.

Franklin is just a boring dude. I would rather Lamar had been the third guy.

I like frank. I think his problem is that hes the new guy in the group and hes trying to impress. He doesnt want to be stuck being a 2-bit gangster living with his annoying aunt he wants to be as successful as micheal (or at least what he thinks of micheal). Lamar is terrible and massively incompetant, everything he touches turns to dust (and not even dust you can stick up your nose) he has the opposite of the midas touch. Franklin at least has skill and ambition, lamar would happily be doing shitty repo jobs and 2-bit drug deals for the rest of his life. Id like to see lamar being available for some missions as a hired gun or something (perhaps he is but im just shy of half way through at the minute). The mission with the drywall lamar holds his own pretty well shame he doesnt have a brain to go with it

N.b i still like lamar. I just dont think he should be one of the main 3.

Only one I don't like is Franklin, he hardly has a personality.
Trev is the psycho of the bunch and interestingly written.
Mike being the character how a badass should be.

All in all, i'm glad it's not a "San Andreas 2" although Frank tends to do that.

Chop, the dog. The bit in the early kidnapping mission with Franklin and Lamar, taking control of Chop and when he sees the other dog had me laughing so hard. Also, when I was out walking him, he lost his ball, reminded me of my own dog.

So, Chop.

It would be Trevor if not for how insanely psychotic and bipolar seeming he is. Also, that whole Oedipus Complex just really disgusted me. Micheal is an asshole who doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. Franklin turns his back on his friends unless he needs them for something.

My favorite would have to be Lester. His 'fuck the man' attitude is pretty funny, he's the smartest, and the only one that has his shit together.

In game I prefer to be Micheal, I dress him up in a suit and turn him into a nutcase. It's more fun than Trevor because Micheal isn't written as a psycho, I play him as an average middle aged man who just snaps one day.

I like him because I think he's a good character, not because I'd want him over for dinner and a beer.

A character can be a repulsive arsehole and still be a well characterized repulsive arsehole.

Trevor as well. There is some really clever wit in his dialogue that makes his weird, repulsive and hilarious antics seem self-aware. If anything though the characters in GTA5 are more intelligently written satire. More reflective of their environment than actual characters themselves. Of which Trevor is by far the ugliest man in the mirror. And the most interesting.

Trevor. He reminds me so much of Demartino from Daria.

I've been playing the game slowly, and I haven't gotten to any Trevor sections yet.
I also decided to not read any comments to avoid spoilers. (go me!)

I have to say, I think there is an interesting possibility of a father/son relationship between Franklin and Michael, especially since Michael isn't father of the year material to begin with, and Franklin seems to be more in tune with Michael than anyone in the guy's family is.

So, I like Franklin because he starts off as the everyman, and Michael, who is basically sick of his life and thus very relatable.

Maybe Trevor could top them, but again, I have yet to unlock him.
