I have noticed that society tends to pick one thing to dislike and/or rant on. It used to be Elvis, The Beatles, recently it was Rap now it is Gaming.

However, society needs something to blame, and gaming isn't innocent. The infamous "No Russian" level has caused recent controversy, the addictiveness of gaming, as stated by ENN the new wave of Sex in gaming (the nude patch in Sabatoeur is an example), and GTA IV made some headlines when it was released.

Of course, people always move on to other things, Elvis isn't censored anymore for simply shaking his hips, and Rap hasn't been in the news for its content for a while (as far as I have noticed).

Times will change, things will become an accepted part of society and daily life, the dislike will fuel heated and relaxed, outrageous and constructive debates that will (hopefully) find a compromise to appease the majority.

Who knows what will be next? My vote is on Robots?

I think it'll stay at videogames for eternity.

But, who cares? Fuck society and their bullshit rules.

So true, but when the media runs out of ignorant steam on games, I'd say robot-bias is next (see Alan Moore's Top Ten series).

God only knows. After all society is mad. It'll be the last thing we really suspect.

Though i'd have to say it'd go to things like virtual reality, it tends to be whatever is modern and shiny.

Alright, VR has been added to the options.

And I don't think that society is always negative, it gives games publicity and introduces new people to genres or gaming as a whole, I've seen more bad press sure but, that's what sells, just like violence or nudity.
