I love the '40s style. Specifically, 1940s New York, San Fran, Chicago, or Boston. That's where all the classy movies were set. Go Bogart!

The 40s, because people were much better dressed. Hats, suits and dresses, no polyester trousers and T shirts and the like. And because I have some kind of false belief that it was all in black and white in those days

I too love how people dressed on the 40's.

Dapper grey or black suits, high leather boots, peaked caps with cool skull badges on them, perhaps even a monocle and leather gloves. 40's fashion was the bomb.

Unfortunately if you try to dress like that nowadays you get funny looks from people, it seems that only royalty can get away with that fashion now (but usually only for parties), and even then there was a bit of a scandal in the papers.
