Shoot, I was hoping the ellipsis in the thread title was going to lead to a pithy joke, not a generic, tired old complaint.
No, Sonic should not disappear. The character is too good to not make use of, and the poor quality of recent games is pointlessly exaggerated.

What I find interesting about returning to the "classic" look, is it seems that Team Sonic is aware that everything made between Sonic 3 and now has been a joke. Sonic's face is barely recognizable after being dragged behind the car by a rope down a gravel road for so long.
I think there is promise for Sonic 4, but the only way we'll know if Team Sonic has learned their lesson is what they do after Sonic 4's release. If they create another game like any they've done since 3, then yes clearly sonic should be taken out back. But if they do a good enough job with Sonic 4 keeping it true to its older brothers then there is hope for breathing new life into the game series that may allow for the new young generation to fall in love with the character like we did.

He's like a rockstar whose career started with a blinding light in the world where mario brothers were taking over the world, then his franchise gets abused more than his italian counterpart. few console failures here and there and you have current sonic. Still alive, but his records will sell better if he died.
