I say "no" to gimmick characters in general. This is Soul Calibur, not SSBBrawl, where gimmick characters are the basis of the game basically.

Yes...Spawn had a backstory and background that barely fit within the SC canon and I have no idea how the plan on squeezing SW into this shit.

I'd say no to Spawn, but mostly because the mediocre tripe that is Spawn comics offends me. As to Gimmick-y characters, sure, have at 'em. But I don't care for Spawn.

I just don't really care for spawn as a soul caliber character, I don't care for the star wars characters in it either, but i can't do anything about that though Yoda is cool

They took out Raphael? ****, there goes my main character. Besides Ivy.

Edit: Nm, he's still in it. See? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soulcalibur_IV]

Personally, out of the three guest characters in SCII, my least favorite was Spawn. His move list just seemed way too short to me.

Spawn kicks arse, yet I think being able to flip over Nightmare's head and impale him on a lightsaber with a green midget would be kinda cool...

But come on guys. They managed to find a way to neatly place Haihachi within the series, despite the quite obvious problem of bare hands + Blade = bloody stumps.
I think an underlying theme of badass is coming to a fight at a disadvantage and holding your own. IE using a sword when everyone else is using guns = badass, using your fists when everyone else is using swords = badass.

I wouldn't mind seeing another unarmed fighter in the Soulcaliber series. Maybe make it the originator of the Mishima style or something (time travel is as big of a plot cop-out as ancient mystical cults) Heck, Soul Edge could be used to explain the whole "Devil Gene" thing.

But I still don't how putting in, say, Link is any less realistic than having someone like Ivy fighting in a damn Bikini.
Does anyone else bar me find Ivy (and Taki?) utterly hilarious in terms of anatomy.

I like the way SC kinda changes the gimicy chracters, and while I love the graphics, style, voice actors and (art) design behind all the characters, they really need to think up a few more.

And be nicer to Seung Mi-Na. She was the best!

Spawn was a crap character add-in. Link was way better on the Gamecube version. Truthfully, I agree with most people when saying that this is not SSB.

SC is so ridiculous to begin with that a few gimmicky characters doesn't really hurt it. That being said, I hate McFarlane so I'll have to protest against Spawn specifically ^^
