Hey escapists, I'm looking for some your opinions on a gift I'm going to give to this girl I'm very interested in for her birthday.

The two of us have a tennis class together at the college we attend and we talk a good bit going to and from the tennis courts. She and I share a lot of interests like Pittsburgh sports teams and she's a geek just like me who loves Spiderman. She says her whole room is covered with Spiderman stuff.

So I was thinking I would give her a hand drawn Spiderman picture by John Romita. The picture is fairly small and has both Romita Sr. and Romita Jr. signatures on it and its pretty cool looking picture. I plan on wrapping it up and writing a short message on the back like "For the girl who has everything Spiderman".

So after that long winded report what do you guys and gals think? Does this gift seem appropriate and hopefully effective or should I try something else?

Normally I'd be asking for a little more information about said girl before I made a decision, but for now I'll have make due without.

If your friendship has reached the certain point, anything from you showing any sign of thoughtfulness should be good. You'll also need to find out how well she accepts sentimental gifts. If she's materialistic I'd call it off, if not, then you know you have something good.

"It's the thought that counts", they say, and indeed I have found in my travels that a woman loves a gift that shows the guy's paying attention to what she likes.

But being in possession of a Y chromosome, I have no means of confirming this beyond anecdotal evidence and personal experience.

And you could then add PS. YO DAWG, I heard you like Spiderman, so I put spiderman in your spiderman so you can enjoy spiderman while enjoying spiderman!

OT: Imo, it really depends on how much you value (or if you actually paid some sum for it) the drawing. If it's something that is costly I really wouldn't give it to her from just being in the friend status. But if it really isn't worth much and more trinket like in terms of costly value you could probably pass it off as one of those, hey I saw this, thought you would love it.

See it all works!
Now do it! Go OP! Go make your girlfriend happy!

Love the replies so far everyone! The post by Vyper1X is gold and I think I'm going to run with it lol. Also the picture was a birthday gift from a long while ago and I have little problem using it as a gift. Also do you guys think I should get it framed and wrapped up?
