Did anyone happen to give Spiral Knights a try? There was a brief preview event not too long ago. It only lasted a few days, but I can honestly say that I had a good time with it.
The concept is something that I absolutely love. Free-to-play four-person co-op dungeon crawler, like a quirky mix of Zelda, Diablo, and Bomberman. Simple, but satisfying. There were some very noticeable bugs when I played though. Some weapons seemed to have an awkward delay that either happened or didn't happen on a whim...and every once in a while, the dungeons would crash and you'd have to exit back to the main area. The content also seemed scarce...which, again, makes sense considering it's a preview. I managed to pick up just about every weapon and piece of armor available for purchase in my short time playing...and I'm almost certain I saw every dungeon.
The energy system was also a pain. You needed energy to proceed through the dungeons. There were two kinds of energy...one you got from doing surveys (which is how, I assume, the developers are gonna be making their money), and regular energy that recharges VERY slowly. There was only one survey available to take too. If you were to rely simply on normal energy, you could probably only play for about an hour a day. You could share energy too, of course...but eventually everyone will run out. If only you had more opportunities to earn energy, I wouldn't mind it so much.
I think the game has a lot of potential. Multiply the content by about twenty, remove some of the bugs, and refine the energy system...and this might be the best free-to-play online game I'd ever played.
