Alpha Protocol.

I refuse to regard Splinter Cell Conviction as a Splinter Cell game.
Where's night and thermal vision?
Where's my gadgets?
Where the fuck is Lambert?
Now they've turned it into a fucking Jack Bauer rip-off.
they try to do something else because the fans complaint that the game was to repetitive and at least if it wasnt like a splintercell game on its own the game is still awesome

I love splinter cell, and refuse to take any criticism about it before responding with words like "Your face"

I must admit though, i'm not entirely sure on conviction, as the developers made a statement on how they're moving away from the darkness-stealth which has been so prominent in the previous games.

I love that stealth D:

What guys? WhaTTTTT?

Alpha Protocol sucked before, it will suck again.

Splinter Cell is going to be awesome in my opinion, people will always moan but the team behind SC have taken a risk and have tried to create something new and innovative rather than another sequel with a newer engine.

The demo had to be weak, as it had to appeal to a wider range of audiences, plus the game is trying to attract new players to the series so no doubt it will contain flashbacks or a 'what happened last time' introduction that Max Payne 2 had.

Eh, probably neither until the prices go down.

I'm pissed at Ubisoft, and Obsidan games, while overall are pretty fantastic, are usually buggy and rushed.

So we'll see.

Why would you want to get Alpha Protocol? it looks terrible. Conviction on the other hand, looks fantastic. I pre-ordered that game well over a year ago.

I'd say Alpha Protocol. It just looks really interesting, and is a spy RPG. What more is needed?

I just don't like the direction of Conviction. They are just changing the element too much for my liking from anything I read. Taking a stealth franchise and making an actiony title just isn't a good thing for me.

But would you buy it if it wasn't a splinter cell game? I know I would.

A game that isn't even out "sucked before"? Do tell.
Whoops, I meant the developer, Obsidian, they usually 'rush' through their games in my opinion, I always feel that some of there games are just not quite their, therefore in my opinion they suck for example, Neverwinter Nights, especially the sequels, sluggish in one word, hopefully they do a better job on New Vegas through.

Perhaps. It would still lose out to Alpha Protocol for me. Conviction does look solid as an action game, but I'm already in the same case as you money-wise, and am waiting out more details on Alpha Protocol.

Also, some bias admittedly is that Conviction is from Ubisoft. And I play games on the PC. And I am not fond of crippling DRM when my internet cuts out.

I find that some Ubisoft games are better on computer specifically Tom Clancy's Ghost recon advanced warfighter.

Alpha Protocol looks very good. I say go for that one. I didn't hear good things from Conviction after a few people played the demo.

First, there's about a 45 day difference between their release dates. It should be possible to get both eventually.

With that said, I would go for Splinter Cell: Conviction if only because it will be a much more polished product. Alpha Protocol is being produced by a developer that, while they produce excellent games, simply do not have the technical expertise to polish their products and remove bugs and glitches. Ubisoft is more proven in this regard, and they will create a game that will function more smoothly.

As for actual content, both studios are trying to do something radical, so we can't completely judge content yet. Conviction has a demo out and frankly, the game just looks really fun. I understand there's a lot of hate from the SC community about the direction the franchise is headed in, but I retort with the median-voter theorem. Ubisoft is pulling the franchise towards the middle ground between stealth and action, grabbing more players in the process; just as a politician in an election moves towards the middle ground between liberal and conservative to attract more voters. Ubisoft has been making this shift ever since Pandora Tomorrow came out, but it was far more subtle. Some might call Chaos Theory the pinnacle of the series, but I call bullshit. I think the previous games were limiting in what Fisher could and couldn't do. I might be one of the few people who liked the previous games to like Conviction even more, but I'll defend that point to the end.

As for AP, we simply don't know too much about the game. It's an experiment that can either boom or bust, but at this point, it looks fairly average.

Oh shit, I completely forgot about Alpha Protocol. I haven't heard anything about it for so long. And apparently it's coming out in June. I gotta catch up.

Splinter Cell it's just that good. But if you don't know much about the series main character Sam Fisher i recommend you play the other four games which are

Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (good luck finding it)
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Splinter cell chaos theory was the best and I still have a copy of it on gamecube ,are hard to find now?
