Ok so there's a bunch of games which support split-screen but most of times when the same games come on pc they don't have split screen. Why is that so? I can think of only 2 new games that have pc split-screen: Far Cry 3 (still upcoming) and Serious Sam 3. Ok and Lego Batman 2. I mean yes playing on pc is mostly solo eperiance but it would be nice to co-op a lttle when my friend come over. The games which I really wanted to have split-screen on pc are Borderlands 2 and Portal 2 but yeah nothing. Do you know any more split-screen pc titles (newer)?

You can play Portal 2 splitscreen along with L4D2 it just takes some tinkering, with my dual monitors I managed to get it so one person has one screen each and that worked lovely.

I've read it's doable with Borderlands but never actually tried.

Mostly when people are at mine to play games they bring a laptop and we LAN, Minecraft/Garry's Mod and stuff but if it's unexpected I usually just throw Street Fighter on and leave that in the corner.

I remember one of the first PC games I played was Need for Speed Hot Pursuit; the other guy played with a keyboard, I with a joystick. It was pretty awesome.

I guess it's not something devs are going to dedicate resources to when more often than not the consumer has an internet connection anyway, although it'd be nice.

You can do it with Borderlands and Portal 2, just not through regular settings.

Borderlands 2: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=151660

Portal 2: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847904

Most UE3 games can be worked to do it through .ini configs as well.

While not split-screen, the lady and I played 2 player Rayman Origins and Castle Crashers with 1 keyboard and one 360 controller. When I get a second 360 controller we plan on doing Resident evil 5 splitscreen because it's sexy on PC. That might be my only justification for getting RE6 (when it decides to freakin' come out on PC, where's that and Asscreed 3?)

Basically yeah I play and enjoy couch co-op on PC, but if I had a smaller monitor it might not be as fun.

When a game has native Xbox 360 controller support, there's really no excuse not to include splitscreen if the console release did as well. I mean, most games are ports from the 360, so surely it's more work to take the splitscreen back out of the game?

Every multiplayer game should have a splitscreen option, console or PC (barring MMOs and the like, maybe). Multiplayer is so much more fun when your friends are actually there.

I don't think it's too important. I may be speaking only for my friends and I, but in general our PC setups don't tend to have monitors large enough for effective splitscreen. Our PC setups are mostly optimized for one person at a time. I wouldn't want to be playing a game on mouse/keyboard then have to play on controller when my friends are over.

I totally agree with you. Playing with your friends in the room is way better than playing online. I have very good memories of playing one of the Need for Speed games slitscreen back in the 90s. Worms was a lot of fun too, though it's not splitscreen.

There was an article on this site not too long ago about someone playing Halo with their friends and then later when they could play online, they lost touch with each other. It was a good article and kinda sad to read.
