I was walking up the five flights of stairs to my office when for some reason, it made me wonder how many people actually take the stairs.

So, if you have at least two floors to go up and you are not carrying a years worth of groceries with you, how do you go up and why? Stairs for exercise? Elevators for laziness? Escalators for laziness but fear of enclosed spaces? Do tell!

Elevators perferably, no chance of falling. Stairs tend to blend together for me, especially ones with the same carpet as the floor above/below them, that's just evil.

I love Escalators but where i live it's pretty much non-existant.
For the stairs, i like to use it but the thing is, at my school, every teacher has their office in a big 15 floor high tower and i take the stairs only if i have to go to floor 1 through 5, other than that, i take the elevator.

I always use the stairs, just because I find they are generally faster than escalators, or waiting for an elevator, then stopping at several floors on the way up. It also means you avoid the social aawkwardness of being stuck in [small][small]tiny[/small][/small] spaces with strangers.

I prefer stairs.

Just to judge the obese people on the escalators.
If I'm being painfully honest.

Elevators and escalators are just good fun for me.
Elevators to feel like a boss, escalators because Yay.

Stairs for me! prefer to be able to move at my own pace and they tend to be less crowded if the other options are available also its a bit more exercise which is always good for me :) .

Escalators usually. Elevators are too small and enclosed and smell bad, and I hate being forced into close quarters people.

I take the stairs if I feel like exercising, but usually I'm too tired. But I walk up escalators anyway...I don't just stand there and wait for them to carry me up.

I only picking stairs cos I keep picturing this scenario in a apartment like area. Ok granted I prefer escalators in shopping mall but sometime the escalators is motionless for varies reasons and walking up onto it is quite annoying if next floor height is tall.

Stairs and escalators. I have a fear of elevators , not of small spaces etc but because i am afraid it will come crashing down(and yes with all the safety features i know it is close to impossible to happen).

Stairs whenever possible, but they're not always an option in office buildings. They frequently only let you get out by using the stairs, not go up.

The last building I worked in, the elevator got stuck on an alarmingly regular basis, so I always used the stairs, without fail.
