I recently watched the movie and I am curious if anyone else has seen it. It was a really art like movie. However it personified the zone well compared to the book. Probably helped that the guys who wrote it also made the film.

I loved it cause it really messed with your head. You never knew what was real and what wasnt and the long series of quiet silence while they just cautiosly moved around expecting something to happen and then it didnt gave it a tremendously creepy tone. It was so atmospheric plus the cinematography was great, going in and out of this sepia tone then back to full color. It really made me appreciate just how faithful the game was to the original subject matter. Especially Shadow of Chernobyl with the Wish Granter and the movie and The Room.

So what are your thoughts?

There's a movie? Really?
I may see it. I never really clicked with the games, but I'm still wanting to give this a look.

I'm interested, even though I did not like Shadow of Chernobyll at all. I'll have to check it out.

When was this made exactly? It sounds cool, certainly... if it exists.
It was made in 1979 its all in Russian so you have to read the subtitles.

It was one of the best films I've ever seen. Truly ethereal, and haunting. Nothing happened in the film, but it didn't need to, it got carried along by pure atmosphere.

Thank god for Andrei Tarkovsky. It's probably his best film.
It really is strange how nothing ever really does happen although your sitting there biting your nails freaking the hell out that something will.

I assume you mean the Russian one by Andrei Tarkovsky, based on "Roadside Picnic"?

Yea I've seen it, I've even got it on DVD. It is a genius movie and Tarkovsky produces the most amazing atmosphere without any special effect outside of a smoke machine. You can really see its influence in the Game.
Oh, if you like the book, you should really read "Roadside Picnic". Its just an amazing story.

I just happened to find the video on Google Videos if anyones interested in watching it...but its lengthy...and in Russian. I found it takes a lot of stamina to watch.

2 and a half hours?!?! Hoo-boy, I'll take this challenge at a later date. Probably sometime during the weekend. I will see it though.

The film is truly a master piece. It had depth, excellent shots, atmosphere, plot... the list goes on for ages. An excellent film.

This seems appropriate here:

Hey I think I might just join you.

It really is strange just how much that movie is able to speak to you and on many different levels and you really dont realize it. The movie almost has a hypnotizing effect on you. It puts you into this false sense of security then progressively gets more tense and freakier then gives you a start only ease you back into this calm again. In the end you sit there and wonder was any of what you saw real or just some sort of dream.
