This idea came to me while i was traveling in the shivering isles on a new character I had created. I had spent all my time there and realized this might as well make itself a game on its own. It has plenty of leveled things; creatures, items, weapons, quests, armor, and crap to do. SO I thought; why not make smaller games that have this gen graphics and such, but give it a smaller world. Like I said the shivering isles is an excellent example if you only played it alone. Another example would be point lookout in fallout 3. It has a wide variety of creatures and all the crap that is essential to playing fallout normally. Like a sort of mode in L4D where you just wander a decent size area and survive all the crap that happens normally but give it an RPG element. Then give it some longer playability like searching for weapons, an inventory, enemy and friendly humans, the ability to set up your own survivor city, food consumption, your small city can be attacked and you have to fend off invasions.(Scratch that food idea) And basically make it sort of fallout style. What do you think?
(Should I change the title? Is it misleading)

um... i don't quite get it, are you proposing that instead of downloadable content, the production values of multi-million dollar titles apply to stand-alone games?

Actually, that could be something. Take all the material already prepared for a main title that could go into extended content, and instead of releasing an expansion release a stand-alone title... Actually that sounds a lot like what the Half-Life episodes were SUPPOSED to be, but of course we all know where that debacle has ended up.

Either you are proposing Left 4 Dead 2 (DLC turned full game) or Free Mode for all games.

I suppose its been done with stand alone expansion packs where you only get part of a game but its still pretty good. So yea, cant see why not

I can say, I don't agree on Shivering Isles would make a good standalone game.
Mainly because the only quest I found entertaining is that one when you have to assassinate someone.
And there is no player owned house if you don't mod

A thing that would work is Mothership Zeta from Fallout 3.
If they made it bigger.
Agreed shivering isles is just to cramped to be a stand alone game, tho good for an expansion pack. I get this when i think of expansion packs your adding on to the game like your adding on to the programmin already there, on the pc you have to have the original to start the expansion so doens't that save money by already having some of the programming(no i don't understand how this works) on your computer from the original game instead having to put that programming into a new game, so the game would be cheaper as an expansion. What a commonsense is telling me not actual information.
