A once great franchise of escapism created a trilogy that was so successful that it formed its own sub-culture and gained a massive fan-base. However, after the third installment the creator made some questionable decisions and ended up making prequels to the franchise that were horrid in comparison to their predecessors. In fact, the only thing that these new installments brought to the table were improved visuals. The hardcore fans of the series tried to argue on behalf of the new prequels, but everyone new that it was no use.

So escapists, did I just blow your mind or do you think that I should be discredited?

edit: I'm talking about the campaign people, not the multiplayer

Since I and tons more think highly of Reach, I disagree. Reach is not universally hated.

It is generally agreed upon that Reach is the most refined game in the series, or that it's the same as the others (the latter is usually thought by people who don't play halo). Neither of those options is worse.

Just because things share comparisons doesn't mean they "share the same path" The SW prequels and Reach were very well done, I wouldn't say they were flops at all. That's just like saying Pokemon is the same as CoD because they're both rehashings of the same games.

Seeing how Halo Wars is the only "not good" one, and both Episode 1, 2, and at times, 3 are terrible, no.

A more accurate parallel might be to note how the canonical rigour fell apart as the universes got bloated as a whole. This, naturally, frustrates a whole lot of people.

But, as for Reach in and of itself:

I don't like Reach's campaign either (at least, I think it's terrible when compared to its predecessors, even if it's mildly decent in general), and much of the long-term Halo community considers it weaker than the other major installments to the series, but it certainly doesn't gather the general hate you suggest. In fact, people outside of that core community often like it more than its predecessors.

Also, ODST's campaign is awesome. The storytelling is mind-blowingly innaccessable for most of its community (likely because most people didn't get all the audio logs or the importance of all the blatant Inferno references), but awesome.

reach was great so i fail to see the comparison beyond anything exceptionally tenuous

I'm told Reach is fun.

I swear, one of these days, I'll get my Xbox fixed and play Reach.

So far we haven't seen Chief and Cortana exchange terrible Anakin/Padme dialogue yet that subsequently makes me feel sorry for both actors involved.

We also haven't seen the Arbiter have a tantrum and go around killing people while Rtas Vadum shouts that 'he was the chosen one'

And no one has done the 'nooooooooo'.

Also there was no incredibily racist stereotypical Jamacian alien anywhere in sight.

So no, I don't think Halo is on the same path as Star Wars. If nothing else it's universe is at least solid and rigid enough to be followable, I tried going on the Star Wars wiki once. The universe is so huge, so much backstory, prequel, sequel, reboots, spin offs and stuff... it's a freaking mess.
And so much of it is really badly written.

Currently I don't need nine encyclopedia's to study Halo's backstory and I don't wince when I read it either. So no, I don't think Halo is going the way of Star Wars.

IMO Reach is the best game of the series, and ODST was an interesting new perspective and had a good story. Mind you Halo Wars sucked ass so you're not entirely wrong.

Somewhat if you put it that way in the campaign however the triliogy dialogue wasn't exactly a masterpiece. What next they end up making two more prequels?
