Will this be the battle of the generations?
Summer release vs Christmas release.
Will nostalgia win?
Who will make more money in the US, internationally overall and of course China because China can make any movie, a lot of money.

What do YOU think?

This has been my shortest thread with no intro. Strange.

Let see-

Avengers: Age of Ulron is based of Avengers which did well and the Marvel franchise has a good track record for most of their films.

Star Wars VII - The Force Awakens while it's part of the Star Wars franchise but it is pretty much a new film and episode 1-6 are suppose to be intended as that so episode 6-9 is pretty much seen as a money grabbing monopoly in a attempt to revived a franchise.

In another word, I think more people will flock to Avengers: Age of Ultron since we know it's going to be good one way or another while Star Wars on the other hand is more risky since it is new in a way. While people will go in first hand but I think more people will goes see it once the reviews are out which could be 50/ 50.

I'm really the only person who voted for Star Wars so far?

I don't care about either film, but come on guys, this is Star Wars! Star Wars is such a huge property with millions, if not billions, of loyal fans dedicated to it. It's a huge Cultural phenomenon as well; so big that people have listed their religion as "Jedi" through out the Western World. It has to be bigger then the Avengers, even if Marvel is on a film streak. If it doesn't beat the Avengers, then I think Disney will be disappointed.

While I'm a bigger Star Wars fan I voted Avengers. I think most Star Wars fans are jaded after the last three movies Lucas spewed out before he sold the rights to Disney.

I'm not really a fan of Star Wars at this point anymore, but I think the phenomenom has gone global in ways Marvel has yet to achieve, and it speaks to more generations too. I doubt it'll be the better movie, but it'll draw the bigger crowd.

If SW fans were willing to punish themselves with the Prequel Trilogy, they'll cream themselves over a SW that might not suck.

Marvel might be popular, but I think it's gotten to its saturation point, SW has the opportunity to start fresh.

...But yeah, whatever happens: Disney wins.

I have high hopes for the new Star Wars movie to be honest. Disney very rarely has movies that completely suck and nothing could be worse than Jar Jar Binks.

I'd say Avengers. Marvel movies have such momentum behind them at this point and the studio hasn't yet shit itself with an outright terrible movie. The goodwill for Star Wars took such a hit with the prequel trilogy that I doubt the nostalgia and geek cred modifiers will be enough.

Both will make insane amounts of money still.

Star Wars is going to make more money from me at least. Because hypocritical scold Joss Whedon is getting nothing.

I mean, seriously. "This clip from Jurassic Whatever is SEXIST because the woman is stiff!" Meanwhile, he's the one who was inspired to create a whole show around Eliza Dushku being a living, reprogrammable sex doll.

And hey, that's entertainment for ya. But don't go around throwing bricks if you live in a glass castle.

Also, he called me KKK, so there's that.

Wanker.

I think it's going to be close. Marvel has branding, momentum, and quality. Star Wars has branding, nostalgia, and this'll be SW's big return to theaters. My money's on Marvel, both hypothetically and in the tickets I am going to buy. Either way though, Disney wins.

I think Avengers at this point. I think they'll still make loads, but Avengers will probably make a little more.

I'm quite excited for Avengers, but I think a lot of Star Wars fans might wait a bit for general opinion to come in before paying money to see it. After all, they've been burned before. :p

Well, I'm referring, among other things, to this:

The "KKK" thing is Gamergate-related.

About 10 years ago, I would've said Star Wars. But now? Look, I am not a fan of SW (not saying that I don't like it, I am simply not fanatical towards it), so maybe I am missing something, but I think Avengers will earn more because a) MCU is still relatively fresh and
b) MCU hadn't had 3 worse than average prequels and situation, when literally every book from expanded universe was suddenly deemed non-cannon, basically telling to fans that "what you like is wrong".

Despite being a huge fan of Star Wars, I'm betting on the Avengers to make more money. As most have said, Marvel really hasn't had a miss yet in their films, even if some are of lower quality than others. Meanwhile, many are still trying to deny the Prequels even exist. I think SW will have a good run and make a ton of money, but I think Marvel is going to win out in the end.

And either way, Disney makes bank.

I'm betting on Star Wars. The brand is too big, the recognition too wide spread, for it to not win. The internet, and the world, exploded when it was revealed that Disney bought Star Wars. It exploded again when it was revealed that they were making new movies. That trailer was all anyone talked about for a solid week. Star Wars has touched and made fans out of people who have never set foot into any other "nerd" zone whatsoever. Avengers will give a good showing, and Disney will win either way, but if Star Wars doesn't come out on top, then I will be beyond shocked.
