now that I got your attention would you play a starcraft based fps where you play three campaigns where you play as one of three races (I know this sounds like AvP but it would be different) in the human campaign you are part of a squad that is send to take out a zerg hive that has mutated with some protoss technology to create special zergs (first you fight normal zergs put then they start getting powers)and at the beginning of a level you get to pick what person in your squad you want to play as (each person is a different class). In the zerg campaign you will play as different types of zergs to do various things to even out the battle but with this one you get lives but you will spawn at the beginning but the things you changed in you previous lives will stay changed. In the protoss campaign you play as a speciality trained stealth unit (forgot the name) with you sword and cloaking ability to infiltrate enemy bases and take out the base (activate self destruct) so you need to find out who has the key to activate the self destruct avoid detection take out the person with the key and make your way to the self destruct switch and take out everyone in the room and defend it until it's to late to deactivate in some missions you will have to place explosives and in other you will have to take out enemy generals. also there would be multiplayer. all out versus. species team versus. mixed species versus. survival (you play as humans or protoss and fight wave after wave of zergs). hunt the hunter one group of people play as humans and another group play as zerglings on maps with lots of pipes that only zergling can fit through each player has one live after the humans or the zergling die the players that are left have to kill each other.

what to you guys think? would you play this game? if so what class would you play as? and what do you think of the last game mode which I made up?

Starcraft: Ghost kinda tried to take care of one third of that. I never played it but I heard it was pretty shitty and I think it was licensed out instead of getting the Blizzard polish - of course it got the Blizzard polish it would probably turn into an awesome hack'n'slash!

And no. I want Starcraft to be Starcraft, not a generic space shooter.
At least, that's the way you tell it. I'd get it, but probably not how it is in your description.

It's a great idea but I don't think you really need protoss infused zerg when have a lot of different zergs.
zergling, hydralisk, ultralisk, mutalisk, devourer, guardian, queen, infested terran, defiler, and any that I missed.

In his description, the game is incredibly similar to AvP, and that makes it kind of generic.
Starcraft: Ghost was nothing like what he's explaining, so I'd want that, but not his description.

Did I ever say something was bad or good? No.
I said that it'd be generic, and that doesn't imply it would be bad, it implies that it doesn't interest me. All I'm saying is that a game more in tune to what Starcraft: Ghost was going to be is more interesting to me than this. It might be bad, but I said anything about either being good or bad.

I see why you might think that but thing would be different when you are fighting zergs they are nothing like generic space shooter enemies and in AvP you mainly fought one type of alien with one or two boss aliens and some aliens that spite but zergs have mush greater variety plus i only think that the multiplayer sounds like AvP but it would be different considering that you could pick between some of the zerg unites (not all) same with protoss and humans but with humans that would mainly affect weapons.

Its possible I am a little drunk right now so my recollection is hazy... I remember a trailer but not playing the game! I just assumed it was one of the hundreds of games I couldn't afford back then due to being both young and borderline alcoholic at the same time! Oh wells.

p.s Is it just me of could this free thing from Valve (Alien Swarm) easily have been about 4 Space Marines killing Zerg?

People have already made FPSes on the map editor, they are simple as of yet, but they are going to get much more complex and interesting.

I think it would be a extremely good fps to play. There would be for once in the history of fps's a well established plot to follow.

I believe starcraft:Ghost's idea came after the release of Command and Conquer: Renegade. It pretty much made everything from command and conquer 1 into a fps so it was like literaly standing in a RTS enviroment only that you were "generic soldier" who was running around doing stuff, brilliant.

It is still the best game of that franchise since Red Alert 1 and is better then command and conquer 3,4 redalert 2,3 combined. HAH (excluding aurora crater generals.)

In multiplayer the game was in a class of its own at the time, sheer brillance, one of the few fps's with a good crowd following it online at the time. But then EA and Westwood, whoever made it decided not to try and continue on balancing and patching it and it just remained a Unbalanced Un-evolving limbo and suffered of rampant Cheating and Hacks with no Clan wars really happening.

Biggest flaw of Starcraft: Ghost admitted by blizzard was it was going to become a Console only FPS.
At the time they were only making it non multiplayer and On playstation 2, not MP friendly.


So yeah the Starcraft fps would be something i definetly would pick up, long live CNC RENEGADE.

They never actually finished it, as far as I know.

I think if they were to make a starcraft game that wasn't an RTS, It'd probably have to have many different points in the game in which you'd have control over different things (for instance, you could be controlling an orbiting Protoss ship, incinerating any planet with Zerg presence, you could be Raynor with his Raiders in a 3rd=person shooter, you could control Kerrigan in a Brütal Legend-style RTS/hack 'n' slash, and so forth). Starcraft wouldn't work as just an FPS because the scope of the storyline is just too massive for a single character to believably explore, but having several different characters who all control exactly the same way but happen to be light-years apart, experiencing plot-centric things wouldn't work much, I don't think. I dunno. I think it works best as an RTS (big surprise there!)

I don't much care for your plot but I would love to see a starcraft FPS. Of course it would like turn out terrible and ruin the series for a lot of people...

Starcraft: Ghost was a stealth TPS that looked awesome in production. Blizz froze it a few years back, but they've maintained that it hasn't been flat out cancelled. I hope so. I'd buy it.
