[sub]read this whole post, it's going somewhere[/sub]
Roighto chaps and chapettes, in an initiative to push all of those random spam posts to the next page, I decided to make a thread about anything in particular. Today, it's about beggars, in particular, the Assassin's Creed beggars. You know, buzzing around you like a fly when you're trying to edge closer to that templar for a stealth kill? Just generally being annoying, spouting pleads in the manner of "my family is sick and starving" "just a few coins" "no YOU don't understand, I have nothing." yada yada

The question I pose to you guys, is what you would do if someone really went that annoyingly far, in real life. You're just minding your business, walkin' around, maybe going to the shops or to see a movie, when lo and behold, some poorly dressed scraggly looking unfortunate man/woman jumps out of seemingly nowhere and starts to plead with you for money. Would you oblige, or grab them and send them toppling?

I'd ask them to stop begging, I would most likely have no money on me anyway.

... If someone is desperate enough to do something like that, then they probably need the money.
I'm not gonna let someone starve just to keep a few euros.

It's when they're not even the slightest bit annoying that I'm wary.
Conmen can get up to, like, six hundred euros a week, if they do it right.
And doing it right involves looking desperate, without actually getting on anyones tits.
Probably.
I dunno, I haven't read the handbook.

I'd probably tell them I don't have any money, and then walk off.... But the head-explodey choice just sounds so fun!!!

It's illegal to beg where I live.
I normally give them a few coins, but there is a certain beggar that's always under the city's landmark medieval gatehouse. who always begs. and has brand new stuff on. I don't like her.
I give coins to the ones who don't beg for cash. I give cash to the people who make music on the thoroughfare. but out-right begging is a crime. and it makes me nervous.

Your first sentence made me read your post in the TF2 Sniper accent, kudo's my friend.

Anyway, I'd tell him/her to stop and that I don't have any money on me. Chances are that I'm actually not lying, I almost never have cash on me.

I just try to ignore people like that. Seeing as I walk around town with my earphones in my ears listening to classical music very loud I can easily acheive that as well. People are less likely to annoy you when you're listening to music I've found.

I'm to nice. I always have a few coins in my pocket to give to beggars and street performers. Its not a lot, but better than nothing. And If you gave out more than a few dollars to each one you'd be broke after a walk through the (Sydney) city.

I usually just give them a look, then continue on my way.

If they grab me however, I'll introduce them to my shoes.

I usually do end up giving them spare change and/or listening to what they have to say unless I am in a hurry or have somewhere to get to.

I actually DON'T have any money to give them, so I'd say that. Then I'd give them a sandwhich, because I have those. I'm an excellent sandwhich thief.

There is no "I ignore, why the f would I even care about them." option.
Done and... done.
Holy crap. Cheers.

EDIT: On a second thought - Would you kindly switch "I worked blood and sweat for these coins" to "Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?". Because y'know, Andrew Ryan was right...

I ignore them, if they keep on following me, I trip them and kick in the ribs twice. If they keep on following... I'll start looking for a new gravesite.
