i say both. they both have their cool factors. The Bum said:Lately i've been re-playing bioshock and wacthing Startrek on TV, and it got me thinking which is better, Steampunk or cyber punk? So i figured i'd pose the question to you, my fellow escapists.
Personaly i like Steampunk better because we are geting closer to cyberpunk every day and it's starting to seem...ordinary.
Just great, I was going to pick steampunk because I love Girl Genius [http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20021104] and now I can't decide.FargoDog said:I like Cyperbunk more. *polishes Ghost in the Shell fanboy badge*
Indeed, as BioShock is the closest thing to a dieselpunk videogame we've got. It's way too advanced for steampunk.TheSentinel said:Dieselpunk. It exists.
But mechanical computers do exist today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analytical_engine while Ghost in the Shell level technology is decades, if not centuries, away.Substance-E said:Cyberpunk all the way. Steampunk is fine until they try weirdass stuff like steam powered computers or other modern technology and then it just kind of turns into a bad fanfic joke to me...
No matter how wacky cyber punk gets it's at least plausible. We may not have half-human half-animal people yet or cyborgs but cybernetics and genetic engineering are real...
