Now, I for one enjoy driving sims, usually play them in single, but starting with forza2, i really got into the online aspect.
I flat out don't use suggested line, even though i know it would make me faster, however, it ruins the feel of driving by feel, and is much more of a follow the magic line, which as far as i'm concerned isn't driving, basically defeat the purpose of 'sim' however, not many people joined my forza rooms with it forced off, to my dismay.

I've seen youtube vids of others whom seem 'skilled', which is very weird. There is no way i can could call someone skilled at driving if the use the magic line to tell them where and how hard to brake.

the feel like a tool to help new p layers get used to the basic concepts of racing line, as well as the notion that you should brake before turning/

gran turismo 3 and 4 had the recommended gear, and a flashing light when you should probably brake, and i liked this system a lot more than the one seen in most other games

anyone else have an opinion of them, as i am quite curious.

I like to use them in Forza to learn the track.
Then once I've learned the basics of the track, I turn them off and start making my own lines through the corners. And figuring out how much I can cut a corner and get away with it.

I find it a little odd that one would put 'lines' in a game that requires skill to begin with. They think their player base is too stupid and unskilled to figure out how to drive faster?

That's like giving you all the answers in a puzzle game. Or infinite ammo at level (map?) one of an FPS.

If someone tells you that they have skill when using a guideline, say, "I, too, enjoy having my hand held by the game developers."
