I find it hilarious that no one would use theirs for good only. I imagine mostly I'd use mine to enjoy myself but I doubt I'd break the law.
I said I would :(
Seriously? I spend way too much time thinking about stuff like this and came to the conclusion that at best you'd end up with some people supporting you and the rest thinking you're a tosser for thinking you know who deserves justice. Far easier to use your powers for your own benefit and entertainment.
Well I would Imagine myself as a Superman type of hero (minus the costume. Just a pair of pants and a jacket) boldly saving people from natural disasters, accidents, terrorist attacks and quashing out warzones

leave the law to the cops and the lawyers

I would do whatever I want. I wouldn't go around saving people. The things Id do wouldn't necessarily be bad things though.

I said I'd do what I wanted, but saying that, I probably wouldn't use my powers that much. I'd just try to live a relativly normal life, maybe using them every so often when I see something happening. I would be mostly good though.

I suppose the natural disaster stuff is better than crime fighting but I imagine any involvement in a war zone would make you even more unpopular with people. Would you use them for yourself at all? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just curious.

..."The American way"?

Do you think the only people on here are American? Or do you think that everyone wants to be?

No wonder only 4 people have chosen that one, that choice really annoys me.

Depends on the day. If I feel crappy, some people are going to die. If I feel happy, I'll save some people.

I'd do whatever I wanted, no-point in being overly evil or good, since both would get boring eventually, doing whatever would be fun because you could save what you like, and kill what you don't.

Sorry dude, been done before [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.126943]*. In future before making a thread please use Search bar [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/search], type in the title of your topic and a few variants just to make sure. If the topic has been done before please post in one of those threads instead of clogging up the forum.

*I know that thread is locked, I only link it because I can't pull all the other links I already listed there to this post.

(Labyrinth won't like this one, we've had to may 'what super power wpuld you have' threads recently)

what? are you like the forum police or something?
No, just a concerned citizen. Really, I'm posting this for your information, dude. You may also want to check out these threads 1 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.116826] and 2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.112832].

seems like all these other people are cool with the post.
Yeah? Well, a lot of the German people were cool with Hitler killing the Jews, but does that make it right?

ok there goes an americans view of history again, in actuality most germans despised Hitler and what he did, he made it a crime punishable by death for people to speak out or act against him... its called self-preservation, do what your told to stay alive... go read 1984...

For very small reasons like cooking with heat vision, lifting the couch up to sweep under with superstrength but genearlly no. It would be too wierd to use powers in everyday life. Besides at least when your not using them you can just be an ordinary person like everybody else for a while. Occasional translight flights on my birthday would be cool though.

So the American way is the paragon of virtue and truthfullness, and is superior than all other ways of life that it is a beacon of goodness?

I'd fight crime and help the innocent. (but I wouldn't "uphold the American way", whatever that is).
I'd punish crime with a strong hand (or lasers, whatever powers I had)... you know: break bones, punch kidneys... that kind of thing, and then drop them off at the police station.

Steriotype hero. Scratch that. My super power would be bullet time and slight teleportation, so I would use quicktime events to hunt uber criminals.

I don't understand why you'd want to be an ordinary person unless you're around other people. If they're your superpowers then it's just a part of who you are and it should feel natural using them for everyday tasks.

I know theres no such thing as semantics on the internet, but even so. Dude, it was just an example, don't take everything you read so seriously. And besides, most Germans weren't even aware of the killing of the Jews.

Despite my previous statements, I'd like to point out that you've dodged the issue. You've not show why, this thread is good just because a couple of The Escapists members decided to post in it. You've said that in Nazi Germany people did what they were told because otherwise they'd die, but how is that related in anyway, shape, or form to this site or thread?

it would be a personal thing. I really dont think anyone would like to be reminded that they could quite possibly move mountains or survive a nuclear bomb. Anyway how could you amuse yourself with powers and not use them contructively. Just curious.

the whole Nazi Germany thing was started by your Hitler killing jews comment, so I guess hooray for no short term memory.
