I find it hilarious that no one would use theirs for good only. I imagine mostly I'd use mine to enjoy myself but I doubt I'd break the law.
I said I would :(
Seriously? I spend way too much time thinking about stuff like this and came to the conclusion that at best you'd end up with some people supporting you and the rest thinking you're a tosser for thinking you know who deserves justice. Far easier to use your powers for your own benefit and entertainment.
Well I would Imagine myself as a Superman type of hero (minus the costume. Just a pair of pants and a jacket) boldly saving people from natural disasters, accidents, terrorist attacks and quashing out warzones
I suppose the natural disaster stuff is better than crime fighting but I imagine any involvement in a war zone would make you even more unpopular with people. Would you use them for yourself at all? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just curious.

For very small reasons like cooking with heat vision, lifting the couch up to sweep under with superstrength but genearlly no. It would be too wierd to use powers in everyday life. Besides at least when your not using them you can just be an ordinary person like everybody else for a while. Occasional translight flights on my birthday would be cool though.
I don't understand why you'd want to be an ordinary person unless you're around other people. If they're your superpowers then it's just a part of who you are and it should feel natural using them for everyday tasks.
it would be a personal thing. I really dont think anyone would like to be reminded that they could quite possibly move mountains or survive a nuclear bomb. Anyway how could you amuse yourself with powers and not use them contructively. Just curious.
I don't think I'd feel the need to use my powers for other people. Friends maybe but not strangers. I don't think my life would be very different except I'd use my powers for everyday things and to have fun.

in actuality most germans despised Hitler and what he did, he made it a crime punishable by death for people to speak out or act against him... its called self-preservation,
I know theres no such thing as semantics on the internet, but even so. Dude, it was just an example, don't take everything you read so seriously. And besides, most Germans weren't even aware of the killing of the Jews.

do what your told to stay alive...
Despite my previous statements, I'd like to point out that you've dodged the issue. You've not show why, this thread is good just because a couple of The Escapists members decided to post in it. You've said that in Nazi Germany people did what they were told because otherwise they'd die, but how is that related in anyway, shape, or form to this site or thread?

go read 1984...
I have, personally I preferred brave new world.

the whole Nazi Germany thing was started by your Hitler killing jews comment, so I guess hooray for no short term memory.
As I said, IT. WAS. AN. EXAMPLE. Why can't are disagree with you because you took a joke seriously? I don't know how to further express myself here with out using the words retard or idiot here so I'm just gonna go for walk or something like that, maybe play red faction...

I'd fight crime and help the innocent. (but I wouldn't "uphold the American way", whatever that is).
I'd punish crime with a strong hand (or lasers, whatever powers I had)... you know: break bones, punch kidneys... that kind of thing, and then drop them off at the police station.
so pre-dog killer Rorscach then?
No way, even if Rorschach wasn't such a fascist back then, he still was an extremely right wing vigilante D:

"truth, justice, and the american way."???
I cannot say that with a straight face. Those are three things that DO NOT go together.
Anywhoo, I'd probably stick to the gray area.

In the middle for me. I would probably be more of a superhero-for-hire. Even superheros have to eat and sleep don't they?

I would be neutral... just because its easier and more natural... Real life is not like a saturday morning cartoon where good, clean heroes beat mean, filthy villains; and moral choices are not about saving a kitty or eating it.

I have a feeling I'd start out okay, and then slowly start to screw around with my powers. But that's assuming if how I act on Prototype is any indication of how I'd be IRL. If people really exploded like they dd in that game, I'd probably be out there already with a chainsaw.

I'd play as both the super hero and the super villain, making money as the villain whilst in disguise and use my powers to "attempt" to foil myself and thus gaining popularity and control.
Then by the time the hapless mortals realise my ploy it would be to late mwahahahaha!!!!!!!

*ahem* so yes that's what I'd do

So the American way is the paragon of virtue and truthfullness, and is superior than all other ways of life that it is a beacon of goodness?

no no no, I was spoofing the old superman saying that became popular during the 2nd world war, in no way was I advocating the American way nor was I putting down any other country. In my mind superman is the paragon of a do-gooder and he fights for said things.

What, no option for truth, justice, lechery and the Italian way?

How about upholding equality under the law, civil liberties, human rights, brotherhood and the French way?

Maybe sustainability, biodiversity and the hippie way?

"Take over the country, then the world!"

"Take over a few foreign contries."

"Take over a county."

"Summon a volcano from the sea floor, build myself a ring of islands, make myself ruler for life, announce a well-thought-out constitution for after that, declare a 200nm exclusive economic zone, ban the hunting of whales, dolphins, octopus, sharks and any endangered species, ban long-line fishing and trawling, grow an ecosystem and reincarnate the dodo."

"Build a lab, make unicorns and pegasi and sea-ponies and pink kittens and pretty bushes with fruit that stops you getting old and find a way to let women reproduce without men so they'd only have daughters and live in a big fluffy, frilly, girly paradise with no icky boys!"

"Re-enact some really weird anime porn."

"Smite evil."

"Smite the righteous."

"Conquer the whole world and force them all to convert to ____{insert creed here}____."

"Leave."

Restart with more options, please!
