Bare with me on this one; I have an assignment in University (Aka, Collage) which requires me to create some form of report about an improvement in a form of communication on a real-life business. My choice was to create a Supermarket Smart Phone application that helped you create a "Shopping List" for your next visit.

The shopping list would also include the general location of the item you require (After you have 'downloaded' a current map of the store you wish to shop in) and other promotions related to the Supermarket in question (F.ex. cooking recopies that they have been advertising).

Assuming the application was well designed, would this application make you more likely to shop at that supermarket over a supermarket which does not have this program (Assuming customer service and prices are generally equal)?

Oh yeah, if you want give me some feedback on the idea. It's a PITA to find things to reference and general discussion over these things I find interesting.

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea. I could see quite a few people using it.

I could see people using it. Personally I'd probably stick to paper for making lists, and just wander around till I find stuff. But those organized types who have stuff to do in their days might find it handy.

It is a great idea, but here are some problems that I'd foresee with it.

It can be rendered useless by asking a store employee where something is, and if you didn't know a recipe to use the food item with, you probably wouldn't be buying it at a grocery store.

Still a great idea that I could see being popular, though, given how mobile app intensive the world is today.

I would argue against it being rendered useless; being able to just take out your phone and type in "Cocoa" could be considered more convenient for some people than finding a store employee and asking where the Cocoa is. As for the recipes; people could just be surfing through and go "Oh that looks kind of nice, might give it a try."

Which reminds me, I should have added in "I probably wouldn't use it." In fact, I'll do it now.

I voted "Maybe", but here's why.
At the moment, no, it wouldn't change my mind at all. But that's merely because I don't have a smart phone. I still prefer/own a good flip-phone...

But, if I had a smart phone (I'll be getting one in a year or 2 at the earliest, possibly later unless I can find a good plan for one of them) I could see this swaying me to going to that supermarket. :D

It's definitely a good idea. If it was a free app and I had a smart phone, I'd use it. ^_^
