I find that if a game is really fun, well made, and the developer has a lot of passion for it then I'd like to support it. Now for many games that just means buying the game, but some games are free. There are many games on the internet that are free, but many use the Pay2Win formula. I'm more talking about games like Cave Story that are completely free with no micro-transactions or strings attached. With games like this I Want to encourage the people who made them because I feel they clearly have talent and passion for game making. Now in the case of cave Story it was eventually given a retail release on 3DS and Steam so I happily put down money for it.

So my question is this, if you find a way to give money to a free game that you love, do you do it? And just to clarify not a game that locks all it's coolest stuff behind paying real money.

I guess a more recent example would be how Path of Exile has made it's support packages. Although you do get access to the beat and some cosmetic stuff.
