There have been a few questions that has come back to me a few times now.

How many people really enjoyed Supreme Commander?
I personally thought the game was fantastic and have sunk many hours into the game making impenetrable bases and nuking/artillarying bots into oblivion. Of all the people I've played with online only a few have ever really heard of the game and fewer have played it.

Did you like Supreme Commander 2? did you like it more than the original? or less?
I liked it, but to me it lost a lot of the diversity the original had, I also miss being able to "build on credit" so to speak, or being able to build stuff with negative energy and mass. I loved being able to do that and it allowed you to sneak some buildings into the game that would ahve taken longer. I also like the tech tree in the first game better, even if it was just a race to get to tech 3.

However Supreme Commander 2 was a lot of fun and in the end was really a totally different game than the original, they divided the factions a bit more so they weren't all the same and the experimentals were more interesting if not more powerful.

How many people ever played Supreme Commander 1 or 2 online?
I never did and I was wondering what the community was like

Supreme Commander 1 and 2 were a great games, but I really don't know what anyone else thought of them because I don't know anyone else who really played them, so escapist what do you think?

SC2 was a bit of a letdown.
Just a bit.
...
*goes to a corner to rant about the franchise being turned into Starcraft/dumbed down*

Tech 1 is fantastic for fodder to distract point defences/experimentals/T3s. T2 has a good amount of versatility, and T3/T4 (experimentals) has the big firepower. The game allows for some very deep strategy when you micro-manage a bit.

Never played them, which is a bit daft considering how much I loved Total Annihilation.

Tempted to hunt down my discs for some nostalgia...

Without a doubt SC1. The campaign was much better I found

In SC1 you would complete one objective, The map would expand & you would have another objective... then another. Each mission was a mini campaign which made them so much more interesting.

Also there was a much wider variety of units.

I really enjoyed both games. I couldn't really choose between them to be honest.

Never played 2, but I didn't like 1 - there was strategy, admittedly, but way too much emphasis on fast clicking and pre-planned build orders rather than tactical thinking. And a lot of it seemed to just be whoever had the most numbers wins, not taking into account things like terrain, morale and positioning. Which probably makes sense given it's about giant robots, but still.

true I loved playing the campaign, especially the ones where your objective was to defend, granted my defenses we're always rediculous but it was still fun watching the enemy throw themselves at me while my layers of shields simply recharged without taking any damage.

I love RTS games, but I could never get into Supreme Commander. It suffers the same problem that plagued Total Annihilation: no personality.

Total Annihilation owns both.

But if I had to pick, SC1 I had more fun with, but still less fun than TA.

I bought SC1 for £2.
I haven't played it yet. I don't actually think my PC can run it >.> it was an impulse buy.

Where is Forged Alliance?

OT: Supreme Commander 1. It was alot deeper than SC2, and I love how the skirmishes can strech out for hours if all combatants are good enough.

I only played the demo for SC2, and it made me tear up with how bad it was. SC1 is my favorite RTS ever, so that pretty much sums up my opinion in this thread.
