Poll: Sweeny Todd

Just watched it the other day for the first time. I thought the music was great, the gore appropriate and the story well done.

Johnny Depp did a good job in it too.

I've yet to see much of it, but I walked by the TV when it was on once. I like the idea behind it, but I'm not a fan of musicals in general.

Not a fan of Depp. I feel as though he can only play one type of role well and is terribly typecast for it.

That being said, I have not actually seen the movie, but Depp + Gore + singing is more than enough to keep me away forever.

I liked the movie. The subject matter was good for Tim Burton. However, I think I'd like the actual play much better.

It was an excellent movie I thought. Well done all around. A pretty good example of how a movie turns out if everything is done well (Not necessarily perfectly.).

I'm a bit torn.

I love the parts where Johnny Depp sings. Actually, I love pretty much all parts with Johnny Depp.

All other parts though... bleh.

The gore was silly, almost breaking the suspense of disbelief, the other actors ranged from simply dull to incredibly annoying and frustrating, and any song not featuring Depp was just... well, not very interesting or memorable.

I find that when I try to watch it again, I just skip to the parts with Johnny Depp.

I quite liked it. It could just be that I'm a sucker for Tim Burtom movies but I found it thouroughly enjoyable.

I completely dug it, but my friend didn't, and she had an interesting take on why. She thinks that if you like musicals, you probalby won't like Sweeny Todd because it's not that great as a musical. If you're like me, and are not crazy about musicals, you don't exactly know what to expect in a good musical, and can appreciate it as more of a movie.

...anyway, that's what she said.

I actually love the movie. Made me get more into musicals and even made me want to audition for the play itself.

Too bad there aren't any theaters near by with a Sweeny Todd production. *sadface*
