I've heard a lot of argument over this on the internet I just wanted to get this argument down in numbers
Well yeah, but what I mean is what would you prefer to be madeSnootyEnglishman said:I believe that SWTOR is already in production.
Have you read anything about how ToR is being developed? The whole point is that its centered around plot and story....Icehearted said:Yay, my vote broke the 4/4 tie!... for now >_>
Gee whiz, do I want a game with a genuinely structured story and carefully planned out plot elements leading to a climax as epic as destroying the Death Star? Or do I want long time sinks, grinding, countless hours of fetch quests, instances with shoddy pugs, griefing, and a monthly subscription fee? That's a tough one...
...Jawas are the new murlocs.
"Hail Jedi! in order to complete the first part of the eight part key you'll need to open the portal to the Lair of Sarlacc, you must first go into the outer deserts of Tatooine and collect 20 Jawa eyes and 8 Bantha horns."
I'd rather eat a heaping bowl of thumbtacks.

Or how people will exaggerate and sometimes even outright lie to get you to buy their product?Novania said:Have you read anything about how ToR is being developed? In all honesty though; I would prefer both.
I don't think its a matter of them needing to co exist its about redefining the genre, mmo worlds in my opinion have ridiculous interactive possibilities.Personally i prefer my single player experience due to my fear and disgust of socializing with other people but even if SWTOR doesn't accomplish the immersion of a well told story eventually time and new technology will open up more and more doors for developers.Icehearted said:@Novania
Yeah, I've also heard those big fat promises, and I defy anyone to tell me how a structured game and an MMO are not mutually exclusive. It's simply not possible. They need cash, they need ways to generate cash, so hype at first, pad it all out, and sell it as if it were bigger than it really is.
I'm not saying they aren't doing it, I'm saying that it's paradoxical. An MMO with a proper story that isn't padded with junk quests, and a good old-fashioned story driven role playing game cannot co-exist without one overtaking the other, and we both know where the money is.
In closing, I fold my arms and scowl with stubborn defiance at their illogical claims. I'd almost swear Peter Molyneux was behind this if I didn't know better.
I'm in the same boat, friend.Yostbeef said:I don't think its a matter of them needing to co exist its about redefining the genre, mmo worlds in my opinion have ridiculous interactive possibilities.Personally i prefer my single player experience due to my fear and disgust of socializing with other people but even if SWTOR doesn't accomplish the immersion of a well told story eventually time and new technology will open up more and more doors for developers.Icehearted said:@Novania
