One of my friends has a full back tattoo that's pretty awesome and she's always adding more to it.

I have three; I designed two of them personally. I plan on expanding one of them, and I'll probably end up getting a few more in my lifetime. I won't cover myself, though.

I don't regret any of my tattoos so far (I got the oldest almost four years go) and don't think I ever will. I always think very carefully about what I'm going to get tattooed before I go through with it, and make sure the design has special meaning to me. I figure that if the designs I create and choose were important to me at one point in my life, I'll always be able to reminisce and remember why they were important to me at the very least.

It depends.
Some tattoos are aesthetically pleasing, but some are really horrible. Full body or obscenely large tattoos are often pushing the limit, though in some cases they are not bad. It all depends on how well they are done.

Pretty much my opinion.

The only three rules I think need following:

- Never have a lovers/partners name, it may be sweet but the future is never certain enough and if you do split up then it will probably drive you crazy.

- Don't get one done on impulse, that's the type of one that you may regret.

- Although it may never happen, only get them done in easily visible areas if you are willing to put up with idiots.

I want those chains now . Is it OK to have tatoo's on your wrists if you are going to work in a bank, or a shop, or anywhere that requires a uniform?

Some employers may be decent enough not to care if you show them, all depends on the person in charge and their attitude. If they do care then long sleeves will cover them.

I don't think I'll ever be getting one, but if other people have one (or more) then that's fine by me.

They really aren't that painful (though I have a high pain threshold, so maybe they would be for someone else). If you want to get one, try somewhere like your outer ankle (above the bone) or your inner wrist, it hurts less in those areas. Also, if you really think you want to get one but aren't sure you'll be able to handle it, you can ask the tattoo artist to go over a line without ink. That way you'll know how it will feel and whether you can handle any pain, but you won't have a permanent, unfinished line if you find out you can't take it.

I acquired a tattoo when I was younger on the top of my right arm. I did it on the spur of the moment, which I deeply regret now, but I don?t regret the tattoo. I don?t even notice it now, and when I do I actually like it.

Maybe it?s fitting that I didn?t notice the penis dangling from the things crotch when I bought it, as I am a big penis sometimes.

Seems to me like it's something you'll probably regret later.

You are a lot less likely to be hired for a job if you have visible tattoos/piercings

Might i add, i think any words, including mothers' names look quite silly to me.
It's not my place to judge, but i just did.

i really want people to bring back "family honor" and the best way to help it is by having family markings or tattoos. if i still think the way i do right now id try and create a family design which i would try to have the eldest child in the family have as a badge of honor. i think it would it would boost self-esteem because they can take pride in thier family.

the only tatts i dont like are the vague asian calligraphy that mean abstract concept which you cant even understand and tramp stamps. tattoos should be a self expression not just a social "thing to do cuz it looks kool"

Yes, on that occasion I had. I?ve never been the brightest bulb in the box, but I think that experience takes the cake. Thankfully I picked a tattoo that I?ve come to love, and that wasn?t in a stupid place.

That's very admirible. I'm thinking about getting a togetherness rune near my heart some day for pretty much the same reason. When my mum moved to new zealand she made all of her children and herself some necklaces with togetherness runes on them. I'd like to keep that symbol somehwere close.

I draw Tribal myself, and have one that I would like on either my chest, or my back, but always at my heart.

what I don't like is people who take a tat aned then another, and another etc. until they resemble an artist's practicing sheet

Gotten a few. I see no problem with it and the people I hang with seem to be ok with it as its not a whole arm sleeve. If anything, the people I have gone out with in the past have found it sexy, which surprised me.

maybe she should put some of those runes on a bone necklace or ponamu (I live in NZ btw)
and more on topic the local maori have tribal tattoos which for men cover most of their faces and the women have it on their chin and neck

Well, it's good that you ended up liking it. I've known a few people who got tattoos while drunk and ended up hating them when they regained sanity the next morning.

Good call on not getting a penis tattooed on your face! I think that's a shining example everyone should follow.

I like tattoos, but despise generic tribal work.

If it doesn't mean anything to you, or doesn't express something about you or your history in some way, then it is pointless.

I like the family tattoo idea, it made me start thinking of a design for my own family, so thank you.
