Poll: Team Escapist!

With a new pokeymann game on the way, there will inevitably be a team of villains seeking to use the pookeymanns to nefarious ends. There have been several in the past.
Which is your favorite?
Rocket: Gen 1 and 2. Traditional crime syndicate with a pookeymann twist.

Magma/Aqua: Gen 3. Eco-terrorists, with Magma favoring land-based pookeymanns, while Aqua favors aquatic pookeymanns.

Galactic: Gen 4. I'll be honest, I haven't played a pookeymann game since G2, and nobody can give me a good explanation of their schtick. I'm told they're basically Scientologists.

Well, they're all bad people (except for the Team Plasma group loyal to N in B/W2 I suppose), so I don't really have a fave.

Team Galatic.... yeah, I don't really remember their whole goal outside of they wanted the version mascot. (In truth, I remember very little of Diamond)

Any fave... umm... I like Team Magma's outfits, so them I guess.

Aside from rocket, Magma and Aqua are the only ones I remember fondly of.
So I'm going with them, cause team rocket consists only of losers who use zubat and supersonic.

The leader of Team Galactic (Cyrus) planned to capture the Pokemon Azelf, Uxie and Mesprit (the pokemon of Willpower, Knowledge and Emotions, respectively) and use their powers to create the 'Red Chain', which he would then use to bind the Pokemon Dialga and Palkia (time and space) to create a new universe. He felt this was necessary because the existing universe was tainted by the imperfections of human emotion.

I can't say I have a favourite really. I thought Team Plasmas motivations were the funniest so I pick them.

Obviously the only correct choice is Team Rocket. And calling them a "traditional crime syndicate" is kind of insulting. That was more or less just a cover for their grander schemes.

Not only did they pretty much take over a chunk of Kanto from the shadows but they also had the resources to create one of the strongest Pokemon of all time. Their sights were set higher than the world and that's what made them cool.

I went for Rocket. A bit of nostalgia, sure, but also I do like the fact that they actually are a crime syndicate and you can kind of get a sense that actually they have managed to do a lot of damage in the past. Also, they cut of freaking Slowpoke tails and sell them for profit while exploiting Slowpoke's innate innate ability to regrow their tails relatively quickly. That's both so metal and so eeeeeeevil.

Plasma would've come in a close second if it weren't for Black2/White 2. They had an incredibly interesting angle and ideology at the start of Black/White but the fact that it's fallen apart in the sequels and they're just a bunch of generic thugs bothers me.

Magma and Aqua have the best music, just like the rest of Hoenn having the most awesome music. I don't have anything positive to say about Galactic.

Have to say Galactic. I mean, they were the most evil ones, what with their leader trying to kill everyone so that he can make a new world where he is the only person. Also their music was awesome, especially Cyrus's theme.

I have the fondest memories of Aqua/Magma. I was only into Pokemon (although I like OP's alternative spelling) for the first 3 gens.
Gotta say, after Jessie and James I could never take the collective 'Team Rocket' seriously again.

And did Gen 2 not have a Team or something? For some reason I can hardly remember anything about Gen 2.

Rocket. The rest of them didn't seem that bad, just had stupid motives and stupid actions to go with it. Team Rocket seemed like they were up to something a lot of the time.

I liked the pseudo-PETA that was Team Plasma only to find out that the leader wanted complete control over the world by making everyone forfeit their pokemans and thus being the only trainer in the world (with a kick-ass dragon that can level entire cities to boot). For that scheme he pretty much abused a talented kid for over a decade only to shape him into the brainless figurehead he wanted him to be.

On the evil scale that's pretty high, if you ask me.

The motives of the Gen3 and Gen4 teams made little sense to me. With Team Aqua/Magma more like no sense at all. (We like swimming/mountain-biking so let's flood/magmarize the entire world... wat?). Cyrus (leader of Team Galactic) was at least a sorta accurate potrayal of an extreme sociopath so that's cool I guess.

As such, I guess I'll stick with Team Rocket because they're the only ones who made at least a lick of sense.


PS: I should use this opportunity to shamelessly plug the pokemon manga here. Even if you stopped playing after Gen1 that thing is a delight to read and fucking awesome compared to the routinely-boring anime merchandise shit.

It's either Team Rocket or Team Plasma for me.

Rocket for nostalgic reasons and Plasma because at first it seemed like they broke the mold and were trying to do something that's surprisingly morally grey for the Pokemon series. Plus N was kinda cool and had a pretty badass final battle theme.


Really can't say the same thing about his dad though I'm afraid.

I'm going with Team Plasma, the Black/White 2 version because they look like bad-ass pirates. Pokemon Gen V is just my favorite gen in so many ways. Although I grew up with 1st+2nd Gen like most of you all, I think that Gen V just did so many things well, and the Team Plasma was one of them. It actually made the characters in the game think about their current relationship with pokemon, and whether or not it was correct.

I've only played Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow. Oh and I only watched part of the original pokemon cartoon series.
