I really love TF2. I've only recently started playing, as I've only just got a good enough PC to start playing it (my old laptop was just that old) I can put my hand on my heart and say it's the best multiplayer I've ever come across in a game.

Now I'm not saying it needs a single player story mode, the game works absolutely fine without one. But I would actually enjoy a TF2 narrative. If it was done by the same authors that do the fantastic Meet The Team videos and the comics that go with the updates, I think it could be really enjoyable.

The backstory to TF2 has really expanded over the past few years, with characters like Saxton Hale and Redmond and Blutarch Mann and even Helen the Announcer popping up in the comics. I think it might be really interesting to see a story mode that investigates some of the characters further.

I'm not sure how it work as a game. Perhaps you could have some missions where you are working with a team, other missions where you are working alone. Maybe missions where the scout, for instance, has no weapons and has to escape an enemy base but has no weapons. Or a mission where the Pyro has to identify a spy through erratic behaviour and not just random blasts of flame.

But what do you think?

Personally? I would rather them go a completely different route and have short little adventure game episodes with the Team Fortress characters. I mean, Lucasarts would have killed for the wealth of personality found in each class.
Of all the things to do, I think this genre would be the best for stopping to enjoy the TF2 story.

A campaign? Don't think there's enough there really. Although I did think for a while there was going to be a type of co-op mode where both teams would battle against AIs and other unique defenses or something that were under the control of the Administrator. I mean have you heard some of those quotes she has?

They've had stuff like the Horseless Headless Horsemann. I think a full fledged co-op type mode would be pretty fun.

It could be very interesting...I'd be more than willing to try it out.

Before they do any of that, Valve needs to complete the class movies.

It would be cool some sort of way to interact with the characters and do stuff with them.

There could be some small campaign for each character to tell their story.

I think its great in theory but to acttuly sit and do it will require Valve to create a whole new game.

They will never do a Meet the Pyro video in order to keep the sex of the Pyro hidden.

I would go for a campaign mode, but only if it was handled similar to "Worms: open warfare 2", where you have a bunch of challenges one after another but with silly interactions/skits between characters in between missions. No real plot.

So stuff like typical AI battles, obstacle courses for the scout, a mission where you are a spy and need to backstab the entire enemy team (who don't respawn), basically stuff to train you better for the online, while providing some laughs from the silly team.

I would SO go for that.

:p But at least the fan-made meet the pyro was excellent.

According to someone who recently visited Valve, Meet The Medic is 80 to 90% done, so given Valve Time, it'll be out some time this Christmas.
