Howdy all .. another poll got me thinking.

I'm a man, but I generally prefer to play with girls in online games because they are less likely to kill their team mates. Or at least ... that's the impression/experience I have thus far. C'mon, prove me right gamer-girls.

* Let's say team killing, in this case, indicates a situation where you have wilfully targeted your team mates for naught but the lulz. For instance, I am male and don't team kill. I have *unintentionally* shot team mates in the back during Mount & Blade (don't fire into melee, kiddies...), but I've not charged after my team mates screaming 'I'll mace you good!!'

I generally don't purposely team-kill, unless the guy really deserves it. Played a left 4 dead game with a couple of friends and a pub where the pub decreed he was the best player evAr and kept yelling at us for not following his instructions whenever he ran off on his own. So we shot him, repeatedly, then went on to beat the campaign without him.

If Magicka is to be believed, everyone is a genocidal mass murderer.

I team kill if someone tried to kill me first. However, if I was the one shooting first it was likely either lag or a genuine case of mistaken identity.

Dicks are dicks, regardless of gender. If there is any reason why girls have TK'd me less than guys, its because I've played with dramatically fewer girls than guys. Its somewhat skewed the graph.

I don't purposely team kill...or else we'll lose. The only time I'll do it is for comedic value if I'm playing with a friend.

I'm a "gamer girl" as you put it, and I never team kill. Okay, well I did once: it was at a LAN party, in retaliation for a team kill (one of our buddies had gone all genocidal on us, so we all ganged up and avenged ourselves XD ).

Only killed within my own team once. It was Left 4 Dead at the end of No Mercy. This guy had been with us the whole campaign, it was me, my brother, him and another dude. He just turns and molotovs me then starts pumping shotgun round into me. The whole team turned and executed his ass. I feel justified in killing him.

I only team killed for a montage video parody, so I say no.

You're welcome! Seriously, it's nice to know I actually inspired someone to make a thread.
(I created the thread on if people treated girl gamers differently)

Anyway, I've never gotten team killed by a girl either, nor I'd never team kill a girl, but I'm more comfortable team killing someone with the same gender as me (But I very rarely do). Maybe it's just the female mind that automatically tells them that it's not the right thing to do, I don't know, it's just most male gamers don't think twice before trying to kill a teammate for lulz.

I have never (deliberately) team-killed. When/if I do, it's because of either lag or someone getting in my line of fire.

Women don't need to teamkill, they're intimidating enough online as it is:

I'm a male, and I don't teamkill on purpose, unless it's self defence (or it's magicka).

That is true. Me and a friend constantly teamkills each other in that game, because it's funny.

I only did this one time in a Left 4 Dead 2 game on one of the really long Dark Carnival chapters. My teammates were swearing at me and being overall jerks because I forgot to bring the gnome into the next saferoom during a horde and ruined their chance of getting the achievement (which I already had so I honestly didn't care). We were getting near the saferoom and had to go through a rolling crescendo event. We were almost through the crescendo and the saferoom was only a couple meters away. I promptly incapacitated all of them and then let the zombies finish me off before leaving.

Probably not the most mature thing to do, but it felt good :p

I try not to team kill, I'll only do it if someone just team killed me in which case I will pull out a grenade and stand in front of them till we both explode...petty revenge.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I'm a guy and the only time I team kill is if someone on my team is team killing or if I can tell they are hacking.

Guy here, I'll normally only team-kill my friends. Otherwise, I stick to the enemy.

I'm male and I only team kill to annoy people (usually if they're dicks) or because of a complete accident. I think that you'll find my answer will be the most common, due to more gamers being guys than girls and people generally not being dicks.

One funny team killing story I have happened recently (well not so much team killing as random NPC fail).
In Oblivion when you have to follow Baurus into the sewer (towards the start, so I should be spoiler safe).
I was covering him with a bow while he met with the Mythic Dawn representative. After I saw the other two agents coming, I shot the rep. This causes Baurus to charge up the stairs to attack the other two, running, with perfect timing, in front of my recently fired arrow.
Instant kill.

Another funny thing is that this didn't start the Dark Brotherhood questline. It was doing a entirely unrelated main quest mission (some goddess mission with vampires) that triggered the Dark Brotherhood.
