I think what children need is guidance. Porn could be damaging to young children, of course. The same way that for example, violent movies or other media could be harmful if the children are not taught what is and isn't real, what's right, etc.

And furthermore, the parents of these 12 year olds, how old will they be? around 40? When they were 14, it was 1987. I don't think a lot of them understand the shite that's on the internet

The only argument against it I can possibly even see as viable is that it gives people bad expectations of sex.

And that's actually simple enough to deal with; sex education that teaches kids how to properly have sex.

Read an interesting article on porn and teenagers that made want to hear your thoughts on it.

While I agree that the availability of pornography to teens - especially very violent and extreme pornography - is a problem that needs addressing, I'm not sure I agree with the problem being quite as severe as this article makes it seem. That online porn is "like leaving heroin around the house" seems a bit extreme.

What do you think? Is pornography the biggest threat facing our young-lings? How much have you been scarred by watching pornography?
The question isn't correct - it's not "Is pornography a threat to our younglings?". It is "Is pornography a threat to MY youngling?". And the answer is going to be different for every kid. Some kids are going to be affected by porn as vanilla as the MET-Art networks (which are like Playboy/Penthouse/Hustler for the online age), where some kids won't even be affected by the extreme porn you can find with just about any google search with XXX at the end of it.

That being said, porn is far too easy to find and get online. Particularly some of the mid-range extreme videos, which seems to be uploaded to free sites far more than the softer videos. So looking for ways to make it harder to get porn online is something I'm quite willing to support, depending on how it's done.

However , depending on the kind of pornography they see , it could affect their view on sex . If a young and impressionalble mind , saw fake rape fantasy sex ( yes that is a thing ) , they could think that is the norm and not a specific fetish . Now that's an extreme example , but there are a very wide range of fetishes out there , and not all i would say are suitable for impressionable minds .
But that's more a problem with our tendency as a culture to have an unhealthy attitude towards sex in the first place, not a problem with the porn itself.
I agree with both comments ? I wouldn't care at all, but this is the Internet. I am not even going to get started on the shit one may be able to find... a short tour around urbandictionary should give you a fairly good idea of what is out there. If you are not convinced, google anything followed by "Rule 34". That said, even with more conventional porn, let's call it that way, there is the risk that kids may get the wrong ideas about what sex is and what it will be like.

That said, parents should be held responsible in making sure kids don't end up on said sites, and give their kids a proper education on sex and sexuality. and by that I mean a proper sex ed, including what sex is, what the dangers of unprotected sex are, how to protect oneself and all that. Not just "abstinence is the only way".

Also: child pornography. But that is a different slice of cake altogether.

So, problem? Yes.
Threat? In certain limits.
Biggest threat? Haha. No.

Also: Daily Mail. --" I am tempted to google for a more reliable source so the discussion can continue from there.
