@ RufusMcLaser:
Your going to have to go through all that again sadly :-(
Terry Pratchett has early-onset Alzheimer's disease, so he might not be with us for much longer :'-(
It'll be a very sad day when we lose him and the literative-landscape will be a much less colourful place...

My favorites are Nightwatch, Good Omens and Going Postal. I like Nightwatch because it's so serious and reflective while still being funny.

Got all of the Discworld series have been reading them now for about a decade or so. Started where everyone should start, Colour Of Magic and went through them in order.

To anyone wanting to start reading them, then read them in order. Some folk have said they are stand alone books. They aren't, in fact just about all the books in the Rincewind cannon have to be read in order for you to work out how he gets from one place to another and that includes reading 'Eric' as well.

Some of the other Cannons, Death, City Watch and Witches can be read out of order but since you can actually see the characters develop from one novel to the next I would still strongly recommend reading them as they were written.

I've read every single discworld novel. I eat it up. And now that I have learned there is a new book out, I must go buy.

So sorry to hear about Pratchett's being diagnosed with Alzeimers. I met him a few years back and got a book signed by him. Nice guy and a great author.
For me, my favourite is 'The Amazing Maurice', because it made a major impact on me when I was younger.

I used to read so many of those as a kid. Should probably pick them up again, it was such a fantastic world to immerse yourself in. It seemed so crazy and in a strange way much like real life as well.

I love most of his books but for some reason i cant get into the Rincewind ones, my favorite is Thud and all of the Sam Vimes books and the Witches of Lancer, and Small Gods is one i did a project on in school, had the whole class cracking up.

Terry Prachett is a legend. I skipped a day of school a few years back just to get an autograph.
I started on his kids books like Truckers then moved onto the discworld novels when I got older.

He is a great man, and despite his alzheimer's he still intends to keep writing regardless what happens. He hasn't made a big fuss about it, he hasn't gotten depressed, he has kept going and I admire him for that.

Nation is really good read, some very funny bits in it that had me properly laughing rather than just a chuckle :-D

Some of his early stuff is really good too, the Bromeliad is great as is Dark Side of the Sun and Strata... But the Discworld is where it's at :p

The Turtle moves!

Apparently he's a libertarian?

That made me sad when I found out. Or so the libertarians claim, apparently he said so in his Prometheus acceptance speech.

Pratchett is very anti-political, this isn't a quote of his but he gives the impression the politicians are the least qualified people to rule, next to royalty, they always seem to bugger it up.

I've read all of his discworld novels but my favorite are the ones about the Watch. The characters are so real and likable that you really start to care about them. Every time Carrot gets hurt I cringe a little.

Oh, and the character of Vimes in nothing short of genius.

I've heard about him alot, and only good comments. I've heard that he has very fantastic books. Though, I haven't read any of his books, mostly because I forget his books exactly when I'm picking up new books, after finishing another.
